    how frustrating!

am just wondering, until you get to the specialist...does heat help at all? hot shower, moist heating pad...?
i realize not much matters besides finding out what it is and how to fix it...
i just hope you can get a little relief and sleep while waiting for your appointment...

hoping they find a solution for you soon...

    Jen,
If heat doesn't help, ice might. I had one of those large flexible pads that you put in the freezer, and I was able to drape it over my shoulder.

      Jen,

First, I'm glad you post all of these issues. It lets those of us who haven't had surgery yet know what we might have to deal with. So, keep on posting, and we will keep on supporting!

Now, first of all I think if you are vocal enough, you can get in to see a doctor before a week is up. Just tell them what you have told us about the excrutiating pain. Insist.

Second, if you really think you dislocated your shoulder, you really should go to an ER. They should be able to tell with an xray, and can fix the dislocation (at least), right away. I apologize if you've already done this and I somehow missed it.

Finally, I wonder if in correcting your neck issues you have somehow put more pressure on a nerve that affects your shoulder. Maybe that would explain why the shoulder is getting worse while the next is getting better.

I'll be thinking about you and hoping for a swift recovery. Keep us posted!

Thanks so much, Evelyn for the support. My doctor appt is this coming Friday. I have thought about going to the ER since the pain is so bad and is not letting up, but since I have my 2 small kids with me at home all the time and my husband is so busy I have just tried to get through the pain hour by hour. I have one more day to wait! I do think my shoulder issue is related to the neck, as I feel a pull from my shoulder coming from the neck as well as the nerve pain in the arm. Just can't believe that taking Lyrica, Valium and Oxycodone is still not even touching the pain!!

I'll keep you posted. Have a good night!

I can't believe it either. You are a true study in courage.
Better to be a study in rejoicing after perseverance, though. May that be the next step!
Not all diagnosed (still having tests and consults) but so far:
            Ehler-Danlos (hyper-mobility) syndrome, 69 - somehow,
            main curve L Cobb 60, compensating T curve ~ 30
Flat back, marked lumbar kyphosis (grade?) Spondilolisthesis - everyone gives this a different grade too. Cervical stenosis op'd 3-07, minimally invasive

Thanks so much, Lorz. It is now 2:45am and I am up and in so much pain. If I can make it only a few more hours, my apt. is 8:45am in the morning. I made an appointment with Dr. Friedman in Easton. He is a knee and shoulder specialist. The pain is so unbearable today in my shoulder I can't move at all or I get electrical shocks going through my arm. My left shoulder has atrophied so much (and dropped forward) that I think my main shoulder bone is resting on the nerves (according to therapy today). They can't even move by arm. I hope I get answers in a few hours!

                Talk soon,
                JenM

Oh Jen, your post brings tears to my eyes. How terrible for you.

Please don't hold back when you see the doctor, tell him what you've told us, and hopefully, he'll do his very best to give you some relief straight away, whatever that takes. Tell him how long this has been going on and how bad it is. Hope you've got the kids cared for today so you only have to take care of yourself. It's Friday night here but I will be checking in first thing in the morning looking for news. Wishing you the very best of luck today. *gentle hugs*

Wow Jen, that sounds just horrible. Yes, like Jen suggested, make sure you explain it all to this shoulder Dr. I hope you can get some relief soon.
