  • Information about Teck-Mun Soo and Stanley Lee

I am considering revision surgery for flatback syndrome and unfused vertebrae from a Jan.2006 surgery. I live in Ann Arbor Michigan and have heard very good things about Dr. Teck-Mun Soo of Providence Hospital, and also Stanley Lee of UM Hospital. Does anyone have experiences they would share?

Phyllis - I will be having revision surgery in May. I consulted with two surgeons, one of whom was Dr. Lee. I knew that he studied under Drs. Lenke/Bridwell in St. Louis, who are recognized experts at revision surgeries. I liked Dr. Lee very much; he's very personable and knowledgeable. His staff was also very good, very efficient. As you probably know since you live in AA, the University of Michigan medical complex is HUGE. I was slightly intimidated by that, especially since I have trouble walking right now.

Since the two surgeons had virtually identical diagnoses and recommendations, I decided to go with the surgeon who was closer to home for me in Troy, MI. I am single with no children, so I have to rely on my extended family for care, and I felt that asking them to put up with trips to AA for my hospital stay and doctor visits was a bit much to ask. If it weren't for that, I would have gone with Dr. Lee.

    Hope this helps you.
