Spasms when lying down

Hi,

This is my first time writing here so i will give a quick history.
I am 28 and had my fusion at 21 2 curves 80 and 36 bought back to one 54.
Then i had the instrumentation removed 2 years later because rod came out of clip.then about a year out of that i had ribs removed to improve the hump.

I never really had any back pain until now.For the last 3 weeks when i go to bed after about 4 hours i wake up with this incredable pain in my left hip it seems like my back has gone into a spasm.

If i sleep sitting up the pain after 4 hours wont be as bad and i can go back to sleep. Going around during the day is fine only bit of pain.

I was just wondering has any else had this type of pain.

Hi Amanda...

You should make an appointment with a scoliosis specialist to try to figure out why you're having pain.

Hope it's something temporary.

I am going to spec at the end of the month hopefully he will be able to help and after reading all these stories about curves progressing after instrumentation been removed i want another xray to check mine.

do you think that if it has progressed even a couple of degrees i should demand something to be done about it. I wouldnt like to loss any of my correction as it isnt great?

I think you should wait to hear what your doctor suggests. A few degrees progression is really nothing, especially in a fused spine which is very difficult to measure.
