  • Thanks everyone for the good wishes

It looks like I will be getting my hip done in February and the the second done in June and then my neck in the fall.

Dr Bederman really feels that I should get the 2 easy operations done first and then my neck

        • Melissa,
Thanks be to God. You both must be so relieved. It will be so wonderful for you when you can get into your new house and finally settle down. It will make it so much easier for you to face the next round of surgeries. Thinking and praying for you.

          • Question?

            Melissa,
I am always amazed at your intestinal fortitude! I think you must be so tired of surgeries! But you always seem to pull yourself up by the boot straps a go for it! I have had a lot of surgeries too and I guess my question is: Do you ever have trouble with pain control(right after your surgeries) because of the fact you've had to take lots of meds, causing a tolerance to them? I have taken them for a long time. But Dr. Lenke's nurse said they have a pain team that helps with that. I have surgery the 29th of this month. One of four spine surgeries. (i'v had many more on for other reasons)
I am so glad you have good news about your hubby. I wish you luck with your hip surgeries and also the neck. First things first~~right? You are one brave sole! Will be looking forward to hearing how you turn out. Was your hip problems due to the spinal problems?
I will keep posting on my thread as to how things are going. God Bless and warm thought of you ! Linda

Yes my back has caused my hip problems. Becasue I am fused from C2 to sacrum , my back has no flexibility and it puts extra pressure on my hips.

You asked about pain relief. There is nothing that helps my pain except Didiuld and no one will give me any. I take Robaxin, which is a muscle relaxer and advil

Thank-you Melissa~~~diladid is one of the pain medicines that the nurse mentioned. I have walked bent over for two yrs. and am starting to notice my left hip is painful. That's why I was wondering about your hip situation. Thanks for your reply. Warly, Linda

                • Yes God is looking out for me. Dr Bederman feels that I could use Didiuld but he cannot prescribe it for me . He spoke to Dr Hata , my pain management doctor about Didiuld. Dr Hata will not prescribe it unless he sees me. I had an appointment with him on November 3rd. I got a call this afternoon asking me if I were available tomorrow morning . That works out great as I have a 11 am appointment to see my shoulder surgeon.
My daughter is here to drive me
So maybe by this time tomorrow I will be feeling better

                    • Well, I had great news from my pain management Dr and not so great news from my shoulder surgeon

I have a script for Dilaudid. However, my shoulder Dr informed me that my left shoulder needs surgery.

So next year 2013 will be my year of surgery again. My hips will be first and then my shoulder and finally Dr Bederman can do my neck.

                      Life is looking up

                        • Facing these surgeries and saying "Life is looking up" could only come from you Melissa! But you're right. Because it sounds like you now have a clear path back to good health. Is your insurance sorted? I just hope there are no glitches along the way.

Meantime, you have Dilaudid, and hopefully, the waiting time will be much easier for you. As always, wishing you the very best.

At least, now that I will have some pain meds that help, life will be easy
