  • Melissa--
I mostly come on here nowadays to check on you! I'm so sorry that things seem so impossible. Like Jennifer said I hope this surgery will give you some relief. Let us know if the sleeping pills work for you. A decent night's sleep can make you feel some better I hope. Thinking of you! Janet

i am so sorry you are going thru such a rough time...
as for the regrets about the past...i have found that the
"woulda, shoulda and coulda..." type of thinking has never
helped anyone...if anything, that thinking usually makes a
      person feel worse...
you did what you had to do for your health, and made
the best choices possible in your life at the time... that is it...
i agree with Jennifer about looking to the future...
in 12 step, there is a saying...."we cannot change the past, the future is a mystery, and the present is a gift..."
don't know if anything i have written here helps you...
forgive me if i've written too much....
but i have never seen "what if..." speculation about the past
      help anyone...

hope you feel better after some sleep...

      • Melissa,

you have certainly had more than your share of troubles, and amazingly most of the time stay very strong and positive. You have a right to feel sorry for yourself once in a while! I have faith that you'll find a way to lift your spirits again. Hang in there, your surgery is coming soon and know that so many of us are thinking good thoughts and praying for you.

        ((Hugs))

        • hi Melissa
          thinking of you...
i know that coping with chronic pain can be so wearing, demoralizing,
          and just plain exhausting...
i hope you are feeling a little bit better today....

          • Thanks. I am getting thru my life one day at a time. My abdominal pain is off the charts and the cat scan showed that I am constipated. I do not know what to do about it. My pcp prescribed a liquid to take 2n Tablespoons every evening. I went to the store and got the stuff in the glass bottle that worked when I was using alot of narcotics. I am in so much pain and do not know what to do

            Thanks as always for listening

            • I don't know if you have this product there, but the only thing that worked for me after surgery (and I went 9 days) was Nulax. It's an over the counter product which looks like mashed dried figs. It worked for me within 3 hours. I've recommended it to others here in Australia and they all swear by it. http://www.nu-lax.com/leaflet/leaflet1.htm You might be able to find something with the same ingredients where you live.
              Surgery March 3, 2009 at almost 58, now 63.

                • That's great! In the hospital I was given various concoctions every day to get me going. (Some were vile.) Nothing worked. I was in pain. Then my friend visited me with a box of Nulax and as soon as she walked out the door, I ate some. It's quite pleasant. Three hours late - success! Good luck Melissa.

                      • I had a good day.My daughter drove me down to Orange . First I went to UCI hospital to meet Sara King. She is doing so well so soon after surgery.I enjoyed meeting her , her husband and her Mom.

Then we went to a health foods store where my daughter got some things that she had been looking for

Then I went over to Pain Management and a had a left hip injection. It helped alot

Unfortunately, my daughter and I hit so much weekend traffic that it took almost twice as long as it should to get home

                            • Now that it is getting close, I am feeling nervous. I feel like it is my first surgery but it is my 7th spine surgery so you would think that I would be calm but I am not. Tomorrow, I have pre-op and then 3 days to get ready.

                              Thanks for listening
