I'm glad you're going to see a fibro specialist. Have you ever seen one before? I'm glad to hear Dr. B's not giving up on you. And sending you to the right places.
Slow down and take it easy Melissa. Nothing is as important as your health.
No I have never been to a fibro specialist. Dr B is definitely not giving up on me. He wants to see me in a month .He wants me to feel better almost as much as I
do
Melissa, i am also glad the surgeon is sticking with you, and referring you to the correct specialists according
to what you need...
as to what he said about doing too much....
true true true!
just glance at your signature....how many surgeries...how many in 2011 alone!!
you HAVE to slow down and give it time....
your body has probably felt like it has been assaulted by surgeons....
one surgery after the next...after the next, after the next....
so much so fast...it is almost like an assault on the entire body....
it takes a loooong time to be all healed....
please try to lower your expectations as to how FAST things will happen...
not lower them for a life free of pain....just lower them for how long it will take to get there...
i don't think you can speed it up in any way....
hope you feel better each day...
jess
Thanks Jess. I have to slow down which is very hard for me to do but now it is so important that I will make my body the most important thing in my life. I have to remember that the more I push myself the longer the recovery will be

Janet
61 years old--57 for surgery
Diagnosed in 1965 at age of 13--no brace
Thoracic Curve: 96 degrees to 35 degrees
Lumbar Curve: 63 degrees to 5 degrees
Surgery with Dr. Lenke in St. Louis--March 30, 2009
T-2 to Pelvis, and hopefully all posterior procedure.
All was posterior along with 2 cages and 6 osteotomies.
I saw the cardiology doctor yesterday. She said that she had no idea why I was in her office. She could find nothing wrong with my heart. So that is good news.
Then I walked about one mile or so . I really overdid it . This morning, when I woke up at 6:30am every muscle in my body hurt. But the thing is ... I have been up all day and have not napped. I feel so awake. That is what is so weird. I went Christmas shopping, ate breakfast out, looked at some additional houses, then
went to a Christmas tea at church. Never felt tired all day nor felt the need to nap. Thanks for listening

Melissa,
It's good to hear that you are feeling well enough to get out and about. Sorry about the muscle pain in the morning. Mornings are the WORST for me and I haven't had surgery. When are you having your MRI and did the doctor include the c-spine in his order? How's your hand/arm? Sorry for the questions. I've just been thinking about you and hoping you are doing better in that department. Take Care.
Be happy!
We don't know what tomorrow brings,
but we are alive today!

Please do not worry about the questions. They show you care. I am having the MRI done Tuesday and yes it includes c-spine as well.My right hand is doing better, somewhat. I have OT 3X a week for the next two weeks and then we shall see if she feels I need more.
That's great news about your arm Melissa. It's starting to sound like you've turned a little corner in your recovery? I do hope so! Take care.

Well, I am exhausted again. I did need feel the need to nap since last Thursday. However by 8:30pm last night, I was asleep in front of the TV.I went into bed and I have slept until 6am. I got up due to getting my son to school and now I am so tired again. The weekend was very nice but I guess it was not going to
continue. After I get my son to school, I will be coming home and taking a nap
Melissa, i am not surprised that you are exhausted...
if you look at your signnature, it shows you had surgery after surgery....
it is like falling, getting up, and falling again...
it is going to take time to rebuild stamina...
i think the exhaustion is just your body's way of saying..."enough for now...time to rest"...
please try to see it as a sign your body is trying to protect you from doing too much too fast...
Many of us say our recovery is marked by two steps forward, one back. Sometimes two back. I still think your feeling of well-being on the weekend is a step in the right direction. And your arm is improving! Things are looking up. Just rest when you need it and try not to push yourself on the days you're tired. I bet it won't be long before you have more good days than bad.
