    • Well, it looks like I will be celebrating my birthday , June 3rd, by having surgery.

Dr Bederman does not feel that having the catscan is that important.

Neck surgery does not have the blood loss issue as hip surgery does.

Thanks everyone for your encouragement and good wishes and prayers

      Melissa

            • Well it is looking good. Tomorrow I meet with Dr Bederman. Xrays have been approved. Monday May 20th I have the CATSCAN at 8am and then pre-op is at 2:30 in the afternoon. Still trying to get the endoscopy scheduled.

                • Hi Melissa

I’m lost on what surgeries you have had done since you have had so many. Didn’t you have your neck done in the past?

Is this a revision or fusing of more levels in your neck? What levels are fused in your neck right now?

Since its “neck” month around here, we are following pretty close.

                  Keep smiling

Yes I am fused from C2 to my pelvis. When my neck was done in July 2011, it was fused in the position of looking down. I am now having bad headaches and pain in my neck. After this surgery, I will be fused in a looking upright position , so when I look at a movie or talk to a person, it will not hurt

Thanks all for your PM and good wishes

                    • I'm praying for you, Melissa. This time is bound to be the one! It's so good to hear things are falling into place. June 3rd sounds like a good day for a surgery -- even though you'll need to celebrate your birthday early! Sending cyber hugs and many good wishes to you. You know you are so dear to all of us. Love, Susie

                        • Even before the surgery plans, we were celebrating my birthday on Sunday as Marc and Jarret have work and school Monday. We are seeing South Pacific at a local playhouse. We'll find dinner somewhere

After meeting with Dr Bederman this afternoon, he is going to make a surgical plan over the next 2 weeks. He wants me to have a CT Scan as soon as I can get an appointment

I hope that this works out.

Wow Melissa, I didn’t even realize that you were fused “all” the way through the neck (and looking down). I almost don’t know what to say. Its especially hard for us who “can” understand what this could be like to fathom....

Given the situation, I’m very glad that you are going in again. I know that when things go wrong after so many surgeries, patience can run thin, and getting the problem resolved on a timely basis weighs heavily. I have felt these feelings lately....
