I'm glad you are doing so well now. I know what you mean about being fearful of jinxing yourself. Every single time I tell someone that I'm doing great I feel like I have to immediately follow it up with "so far" or "knock on wood".
Keep healing and having more and more days with no pain.

Mother of Alexander & Zachary:
Alex is 16 years old and in the 11th grade. He has congenital scoliosis due to a hemivertebrae at T10. Wore a TLSO brace for 3 1/2 years. Pre-op curves were T45 & L65; curves post-op are approx. T31 & L34. Had a posterior spinal fusion from T8 to L3 on 7/12/07 at age 12. Doing great now in so many ways, but still working on improving posture.
Zach is 13 years old and very energetic.
I am glad that you can see the light at the end of the tunnel ("dark days" describes it well). Hopefully, once you are back at work, even part-time, you'll feel more and more like you're getting your life back. . . and good times on your horizon.

Linda, I am glad to hear that you are at the recovery stage. You were such a help to me during the time facing my surgery s I am so sorry I didn't get to pray for you.. Sounds like the Lord made it work out though. I did well thanks to this forum and hope to not have any more surgery. I am almost 7 months post op and not back to work after being out for 16 years I am ready to do something. You are doing wonderfully. I can now stand straight other than a tilt a little still to the right, but gained almost 5" in height. No real pain to speak of but am looking for ways to get more flexable. I am an associate degree RN. I want to get back to work at some capacity. I have asked the doctor what i can do and he says anything that doesn't hurt. I am trying to plan for my future as I am 60 yrs old and time is clicking away.
