Pips...I was 30 and had a stuffed dog with me too! We have a dog at home and I was in the hospital for 10 days and missed her so much, so the stuffed dog was nice to have! I did squeeze the heck out of the poor little thing though as some of the PT I needed for the fluid in my lungs was painful as was getting any sort of needle and having something to hold and squeeze when my hubby's hand wasn't there was helpful.

Jenn, I didn't have a hospital bed but I did have a bed rail. The PT folks in the hospital suggested it, they showed me how to pull myself up with it. I also had the raised toliet seat with arms on it and recommend it for the first few weeks. Being able to push yourself back up to a standing position was much easier with the arms there. I also had 2 different kinds of grabbers. One had like little suction cups on the end of it. I used that for like papers, glasses, etc. The other one was like a claw. I used that to get the clothes out of the washer. The washer was to deep for me to get the clothes out without some help.

I'm right there with everyone else.....I had a stuffed dog with me in the hospital both times. In fact, the first time I was in the hospital was for two weeks.....the only thing that I really remember about the two weeks is when I threw the stuffed dog at the doctors back and my daughter intercepted it.
