Teeth cleaning before surgery?

Amy, Dr. Rand told me he didn't think it was necessary for me to take antibiotics prior to dental cleanings. I think you can build up a resistant strain of bacteria by taking antibiotics. The subject never came up when I went to the fusion class at the Baptist. Check out the American Dental Association web site. They may have something to say about it.

I'm glad to hear that...I think if it were me, and I had differing advice, I would not take antibiotics, but I still am pre-fusion and so at least now I know to ask at MD appts. BTW, my mom will be having her operation in Dec with Dr. Rand.
