Glad to see you are doing well and improving every day.

Its nice to have this behind us. Its something you never forget especially if your hospital stay is a bit of a battle. I too was restrained for days, hoses everywhere, and was basically knocked out with shots for a week. No PCA, totally dependent on nurses, and like JamieAnn, yelling at the top of my lungs mad as hell, not mad at anyone, just mad. I guess I turned into Frankenstein, but didn’t remember much. Multiple grafting, corpectomys, major bone work is red line pain. Extremely painful.

Yes, I felt bad. I went back down to apologize about 2 months later. All the nurses were great... They are trained and know when the heavies are coming....

I don’t have feelings of jealously, with me, I feel I need to watch for the “heavy hitters”, like a seeing eye dog. I guess it can be considered a normal reaction.

I’m extremely safety minded now, down at work I’m always preaching safety. These people don’t know what can happen around machinery and its not even my job....They just don’t know. They have a choice, we don’t.

I’m pain free now. It is something I never dreamed would happen after all the years of pain.

That’s great you’re feeling pain free and doing so well in your recovery. It is amazing how each person’s experience is different, in some strange ways I think that helped me before surgery, realizing all you can control is putting yourself in the best hands and hospital, and the rest will unfold. I also appreciated you mentioning the kindness shown by those people you come across per chance, especially when you’re in such need. For me, an orderly, Barry, was such a kind and calming presence, I only knew him for a short while but will never forget him. Enjoy those books and walks, pain free. Good luck on your continuing recovery
