Well, I'm not sure about the neck, but you can definitely get treatment for depression. I would ask your doctor about that, too. It's important to watch out for your mental health, as well.

There definitely have been a couple of people on here who've had neck fusion either before or after long fusion for scoliosis. Keep searching, you'll find them.

      Best wishes!

Thanks mgs, i'll keep this updated. I talked to my doctors nurse, who said she talked to the doc and he mentioned steroid shots. I don't wanna do these again, I get a few side effects and strange reactions for a month or 2 after.

        jrnyc,
I searched, still can't find much on the treatment for pjk and/or curving above the fusion. Just fuse higher?

asccbodypro, melissabeckoff, and a few others are all under "neck after surgery" explaining what they had to do to deal with post surgery neck problems...i believe some mentioned having to extend fusions...some may have mentioned PT

i get injections often...none have really helped my lumbar pain...only the botox in thoracic area have really helped me...but i do not get any noticeable side effects from steroid injections...the most i have gotten was 3 weeks of pain relief...that was longest time i had any results...

          best of luck

                Hi Ryy-

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you, just been extremely busy with life! I am a mom to 2 small children and they keep me very, very busy. As you know, I have had neck problems immediately following my surgery. I didn't have neck issues before the surgery. I am now 9 months post-op and my neck is still an issue. I feel tingling in the neck area that extends to my shoulder blade. After alot of activity, I need to lay down and give it a rest or it gets very painful.

The one thing that has helped me is cervical traction. Last month, my physical therapist did this on me and it seemed to help. I saw that Ed mentioned it on this forum as well. Each month is getting alittle better but I also get depressed thinking this surgery made my neck worse. We are both so young and it would stink to have this neck pain for the rest of our lives. As we age, it will likely get worse and worse.

Hope you get some answers from your doctor. Hang in there!
