  • Jess,
I'm SO GLAD to hear that your hip pain is better!!!

Your virus sounds like what I had. I was so very, very sick! I caught three things back to back. The second thing I caught sounds like what you have. Fortunately, I managed to keep it out of my lungs! I could not even get out of bed for two straight days and had no voice what-so-ever. I was sick for about three weeks with that one. I hope you and hubby get better soon. My hubby never gets sick, either, and he caught a "mild" case...went to work anyway. Poor guy. =(

Let's keep hoping that your cortisol doesn't drop. If it's all good, maybe you can stretch out your shot schedule to longer than three months.

My SI shot worked, too. It took the full two weeks to take effect, though. Although, with the lidocaine in there right after the shot, I felt better. That made the doc smile. He also told me that you never have just one bad SI joint. He said they are always both bad, just one is worse than the other. He told me to expect the other one to flare up, which it did. But the symptoms aren't nearly as bad on the right as they were on the left. It's not bad enough for me to go through the pain of an injection on the right. My SI injection was very painful, but I will be repeating it...eventually.

My energy is coming back. I think it was the illness and the stress that zapped me.

My neck is a mess. I'll post on my own thread what happened. But, I think I'm in trouble and there is no medical solution. =(
    Be happy!
We don't know what tomorrow brings,
    but we are alive today!

    • i am so sorry you have been sick...
but what i have it is impossible to leave the house...
the vomiting and diarrhea prevent going anywhere....
so does the fever and dizziness...
worst is the stomach upset....i dared not leave the
      bedroom/bathroom for 3 days...and could barely drink
      water...

i am so pleased with hip results with half dose...
i will get cortisol checked in a few weeks...
symptoms of cortisol drop include fatigue which i
have now just from this illness...feel weak...
so i have to see when i get better...

      thanks for concerns...

      • Hi Jess,
I am glad the cortisone shot worked for you. Sorry you have been so sick. My bout with C Diff sounds so similar. I had terrible abdominal pain and severe diarrhea. It certainly is not much fun. Take care of yourself and little Sparky.

        • Thanks for concerns, Sally, and for good wishes...
i am so pleased with hip shot....just really thrilled...
hope blood work is OK in a few weeks...
right now all my exhaustion is remnants of this illness...
but the hip pain that was grinding me down is gone.....yaaaay

i read other patients description of the norovirus...what
lingers is being so wiped out...it just devastates...like you
were run over by a Mack truck...

so far Sparky seems OK...a little mopey that momma is not
playing with him...but he is fed and gets out to do his business
in the freezing cold...so far he is the puppy with the bday
this Sunday for Ground Hog Day...pray for early spring!!!

            • hi Jen...and to anyone who welcomed me back to forum recently....thank you so much...

was in southern CA for about 10 days...after a few days of rain (couldn't complain as i am well aware of their awful drought) the weather turned beautiful...and i was very relaxed, even though i missed sweet little puppy so much.

am getting blood work done in about 6 weeks, as was just put on an additional hormone (bio-identical hormones from doctor in Venice, CA) and am waiting to see how i do on it...will also be doing a 24 hour pee test, to see how i am absorbing
              the new hormone...

sooooo....at that time i expect to get cortisol/adrenal function checked out...for now i feel the usual tired...which GP thinks could be from pain meds...

thanks again to anyone who wrote to say they missed me on forum....
hugs to all from jess and Sparky, the wonder puppy

Oh, Jess! I'm SOOO glad that you got to experience beautiful weather before you came back to never-ending-winter!
I'll bet Sparky was super excited to see you! I can only imagine the little doggie dance with the tail wagging non-stop, spinning in circles and flipping over on his back for a belly rub! That's what my Juliet used to do, except she's pee all over the place, too! LOL THEN I didn't want to touch her because she'd be on her back still wiggling around and soaking her fur in her excitement pee. LOL I miss my little doggie. :'-(

So, back to business. What bio-identical hormone are they giving you? Cortisol?
I had to have the 24 hour pee test once. It's kind of gross because you have to keep it in your refrigerator. It was to check my adrenaline levels when the doctor FINALLY started taking me seriously about my heart condition. He'd had another patient that was "accused" of having panic attacks like I was when I went to the ER with my heart. It was so bad with this woman that they put her in the psych ward! She almost died in there because her heart went into out-of-control tachycardia and she went into full cardiac arrest! Honestly, they don't check people's actual physical status that much when they are in those places. It turned out for her that she had a tumor on her adrenal gland and her gland was just dumping out adrenaline like crazy. It's really sad that women, especially, have to nearly die or die before anyone will believe them that they aren't just "crazy"! It's angering and frustrating. Women react differently than men do for a lot of different things. We're not as cut and dry because we DO have normally fluctuating hormone levels, unlike men who should have pretty consistent hormone levels. I'll tell you that those sex hormones (male and female - both sexes have both in varying amounts) can wreak havoc on the other hormones or mask real symptoms. It's just sad that it's taken science this long to figure that out and STILL the majority of doctors just write us off as crazy!

I hope your energy is up and I hope your spirits are up, too! Did you find what you were looking for in San Diego? (yes or no answer will suffice or a PM)

Let us know how your tests go. I know it will be awhile before you do them or get your results.

                  ((((HUGS)))), WOOFS & Wiggles!
                  Be happy!

What do you think your cortisol level is? Hopefully it is in the normal range and you can continue the low dose injections, yes?

                      • thanks, Sharon
i am hoping cortisol level is in normal range...
and will check it in about 6 weeks when i get blood and urine tests
to see how i am absorbing hormones. if all looks good, i will be able to get low dose steroid injections, as needed, for both hips. that would be great.

thanks again Sharon....i was contacted by Linda Racine, by Jen G,
by you, by rohr, and by several other people who wanted to know how i was doing.

yes my back is a mess from the flights...
but worse is that i over packed...again...after swearing last
time i would never do it again!
and this time, i spent most of days in a rented house with a
washer and dryer in garage...so i could wash clothes...

i had to LIFT very heavy suit case...ALONE..into the trunk..and also
had to drag it up and down a long staircase outside the house....
it was on wheels...but getting it into and out of trunk of car, and
up and down a flight of steps was hard....it was too heavy for me
to lift...i had to try to drag it...and i could not lift it from handle...
i am just not strong enough...
i think it was the suitcase that did in my spine, in some places that never have hurt me before...very sore for quite a few days...

still jet lagged...time zones are still confusing me

hope everyone had a nice wkend

today i woke up with the exhaustion...
that feeling that i am too tired to BREATHE
uh-oh....it is almost 2 months since half steroid shot...
20 mg in left hip...i was so happy that it took away the pain and i didnt seem to have any dropped cortisol symptoms...
                                well.....spoke too soon...
i have that totally exhausted feeling again....
i am hoping against hope that i am wrong, that it is something
else....i am calling GP to get blood work orders for cortisol and adrenals...
maybe test for anemia...do not know....

i saw hormone specialist in CA...or spoke to her again on phone...
she blew my 9 a.m. appt and wanted me to come back 7 hours later...could not do it...we spoke on phone...the charge is usually same for phone consult...$350 that my insurance does not pay...i pay it out of pocket...
well, i made a fuss about flying 6000 miles round trip to see her so they didn't charge me for that consult...seriously, the least they should do....
but i got to be in beautiful southern CA...brought the rain with me to them, too...they need it desperately.
i have blood work orders to be done in 5 weeks, for all kinds of things, but cannot wait that long to check cortisol....
