Hello I was diagnosed with scoliosis back in 2010. Since being diagnoded, i had to go to 3 different doctors before i could get one to reffer me to an actual back doctor. He also told me that i had scoliosis, a turned ribcage, a rib hump and a bulging disc. He sent me for physical therapy. After a few treatments, i came out of that worse than before i started so i was told to go to a pain clinic. I was there for 6 months before they decided to do anything but give me pain meds. They gave me 3 steroid injections over 3 months in my lower back. I was told it would help my bulging disc. It did not. After that i was put back on pain meds. Since then my family and i have moved to Indiana. I cant get on insurance right now so i can not get seen for my back problems or get meds or anything. I am having to be in constant pain. I get numbness in my legs to where some mornings i will try to get out of bed and not even be able to walk. I have had numbness in my arms also. I constantly have pain in my upper back and a terrible ache down my arms and legs. If i finally get on insurance in this state i am worried that i still wont be able to find someone that will help me with my back. Having scoliosis and a bulging disc make it impossible for me to work. My husband used to be supportive of my problems, but lately when i try to tell him how much i am hurting or why i cant do something he is asking me to do he will just tell me to shut up or stop whining. So i am very grateful that there is a place i can go to share my stories and vent. Its very nice to know that i am not alone

welcome to the forum....
there are understanding people here...many in similar situations....
i am really sorry you don't have insurance now....
i went thru a whole lot of different kinds of shots....none helped
my lower back pain....finally, sacroiliac joint injections worked....
they relieve a lot of lower back pain for up to 10 weeks at a time...
i also am given lots of pain meds, but when the shots are working, i
don't need to take many of them...
i hope you are able to obtain insurance soon....
there are doctors who can help, and surgery if all else fails...
but it all requires insurance.....

Having a bulging disc is no fun.
Hot water soaks in a tub are still free.......and a method of pain control and relaxation.
Pilar had her surgeries done without insurance......
Do you have any x-rays? Do you know your angles?

Why don’t you contact your Dr or surgeon in Tenn and request your x-rays. Tell them you moved and you want them, they are your property. Have them e-mail the digitals to you. I would do this first.
Pilar was done by Dr Pashman in Los Angeles. You could PM her...

Ask for ALL the reports, since they were talking surgery. If you had a CT, or MRI, get all the data. Once again, digital is best, e-mail or mail the copies to you.

TiEd is so right...
you absolutely have a right to any and all your medical information...
it is YOURS! i would just suggest you get the written reports that go
with the actual X rays or MRI...it is easier to understand than
looking at an MRI...though the X ray is kind of easy to see, it is still nice
to have the explanation from the radiologist....
no doctor or hospital has a right to refuse to give you your own info, X rays,
etc...ever!! some doctors try to intimidate patients and act like they are
all powerful...simply not true....
sometimes you have to stand up for yourself when it comes to medical
staff...some of us learned that the hard way....
you may have to put your request for your information in writing, but it is very easy to obtain...
you can get it long distance once you request it in writing...and follow up by phone..
if you had it done at a hospital, you may want to call the records room, or their X ray
department...
it is VERY unusual for a patient to obtain surgery without insurance...
not impossible, but very difficult

Hi clarelouise,
Welcome to the forum.
I agree with Ti Ed and Jess, all of those x-rays and MRI's belong to you. Either your or your insurance paid for them. Are there any free medical clinics in Indiana? There are Doctors out there who will take people without insurance, even some of the top Doctors. You just have to search them out.
My heart goes out to you. Living with pain is something no one can understand unless they have dealt with it. You didn't say at what levels your curve(s) is or what the curve is.
I hope you can find the help you need.
