I am concerned about my friend's child(13 years old with probably 4 to 5 inches left to grow, her parents are both 6 ft and over). I saw her at the end of July, at which time she had just been diagnosed with a 10 degree lumbar curve(x-ray by GP and curve determined by radiologist). I looked at her back and pelvis then. There were no visible signs of the scoliosis.
I saw her the other day, her hips were visibly uneven. Her mom took her to the ortho for the first time today. Her pelvis is now uneven by 3/4 of an inch according to the ortho. He did not do a repeat x-ray to measure the curve now and wanted to wait and see her again in December.
Most curves do not deteriorate very rapidly, but I think this one may be. There has been a huge visible change.
My daughter's curve deteriorated rapidly last year, by 20 degrees, 14 in the last 6 months of last year.
What advice would you give?
Thanks!
Cheryl
