Yea...I am a member now! I have been following the forum for months and thank everyone for all the valuable information that has gotten me through.
I had my fusion on May 7th, 2013 so just over two months post. Everything went very smoothly. I was out of the hospital within 5 days and walking around my block at two weeks. I truly had an uneventful, smooth surgery. BUT....then I had stomach problems. Still trying to get to the bottom of it. I was diagnosed with an infection and put on probiotics but the pain is still there. Awaiting an appointment with a GI specialist to have scope done. I have lived on a bland diet basically since surgery...applesauce, potatoes, bananas. I try regular foods and have pain, I am suspecting an ulcer. It definitely has been a HUGE hinder in my healing. When you don't eat so well, energy levels tend to be low.
My biggest hurdle I found was driving. I was behind the wheel at 4 weeks but I did not feel ready, very stiff. So I took a break again and just started driving more again and feel comfortable now. But it's hard to not have that freedom. I did drive off and on over the past two months, but shorter distances.
I have two amazing kids (16 & 11) who have been invaluable to my recovery. And such an amazing husband. I am truly blessed with such a supportive family who 'caters' to me.
Again, I am so thankful for this forum. I have found answers to just about any question I ever have had. I am still a newbie at this whole scoliosis journey even though I have lived with it for 20 odd years. I still have a lot to learn. I NEVER imagined I would have surgery when it was first suggested 10 years ago, but after the long road of many alternative treatments I finally had to make the hard decision. Nothing was working for my pain and I had given up so much of my life. I can already tell I am going to live a more pain free successful life at the stage I am at. Good luck to everyone out there still struggling with their scoliosis. I am very open about talking about my journey so please feel free to ask questions.

I also suffer from disk problems in my neck and through my entire back
