  • Spinecor Bracing Candidates Needed!

Found this on the Dr. Morningstar's website. Dr. Morningstar is a chiropractor. Unfortunately our daughter doesn't fit the criteria because her curves are too large........

    "Spinecor Bracing Candidates Needed!
The world’s first effective dynamic scoliosis brace, the SpineCor brace, has been used worldwide for the last several years. Only recently has it made its way to the US. We are the first chiropractic clinic in Michigan attempting to achieve full certification in using the SpineCor bracing treatment.

To help us achieve certification, we need 4-6 volunteer patients who have scoliosis between 15-35º. This treatment program normally costs about $4500. However, because the clinic needs these 4-6 patients to achieve full certification, these patients will be charged nothing for their brace and fitting. We are only offering this to the first 4-6 patients however. Once the clinic is certified, this offer will no longer exist. So if you have any friends or family who may have scoliosis, please tell them about the SpineCor brace. The signs of scoliosis may include: unlevel shoulders, rotated hips, difficult balance/coordination, frequent digestive complaints, recurrent respiratory infections, lowered athletic stamina, and an symmetrical rib hump on the person’s back. Be one of the first 4-6 patients and receive this revolutionary brace for free.

Contact our office or call (810) 694-3576 for complete details.

    Hey Ruth,

Happy Thanksgiving! Isn't the Pettibon system part of the program offered by that quack chiropractor "dr" Waggon? Don't they put weights on the shoulders and head???? If anything, wouldn't that cause the scoliosis to progress at a faster rate???? I wouldn't go along with that even if they paid me!

      Celia:
You are correct Pettibon is offered by Dr. Woggan.
Why are you so against it?

I know this is a little off topic, but I was just wondering if the SpineCor brace is typically covered by insurance?

        Thanks,

          Hi LorDon,

I can only speak from personal experience but our brace has been covered by our insurance.

          Ruth,

There have been some lively discussions on Dr. Woggon and the Clear Institute and the general consensus is.... he's a quack! Take a look at the discussion under non surgical treatments "Chiropractic Hope, Had to Share"

            LoriDon,

It depends on your insurance. Our insurance initially denied it b/c they typically only cover a hard or rigid brace not a soft brace. However, we appealed the decision and had our Dr. do a peer-to-peer review with Humana and the medical director at Humana who initially denied the claim approved it after talking with the doctor.

            Hope this helps.

              Celia:

We have read everything we can find on the Pettibon techniques and the technical Spinecor literature.

We are consulting with Dr. Rivard about combining the Pettibon with the Spinecor for Esme - we will have to wait to see what his opinion is. We will be going to Montreal again for a Spinecor brace fitting as soon as there is an appointment available - should get a date tomorrow.

We are not convinced that the Pettibon is quackery and our daughter is doing the wobble exercises, leg lifts, arm punches, a little head weighting, neck traction, balancing exercises and receiving chiropractic treatments 3x per week.

Esme was unable to touch her toes when she started less than a month ago and can now almost reach them when she bends over. Her back flexibility is better, her balance is very much improved and she has less pain than before. Whether this method will turn out to be effective for her only time will tell but we don't have a lot of options at the moment so we are going with this. I suppose we are thinking that every person's body is different and what might work for some won't work for others.

Our Ottawa chiropractor who has had 3 spinal fusion operations is very sincere and dedicated. She has successfully held back scoliotic curves for some adolescents here in Ottawa although they had lower curves than Esme's.

I probably already know the answer to this one, but I'd still be very interested to hear what dr. Rivard has to say about the Petibbon system. I don't think Dr. Rivard nor Dr. Coillard have anything to do with the current operations of the Spinecorporation? It's owned by Mr. Mills in the U.K. who is aggressively promoting it. Unfortunately, not much thought is being given to criteria or credentials for spinecor providers.

                  Celia:

Dr. Rivard called my husband today to give us an appointment for Esme to get her Spinecor brace - October 23rd. We are very excited to get her into the brace especially since we expect she will have at least one more growth spurt and it might really help.

Re: Pettibon - Dr. Rivard said he had talked to one of his chiropractor friends about Pettibon and that it sounded good. We had very much wanted to get his opinion before putting the Spinecor together with the Pettibon system. We will also have Esme do the physiotherapy exercises that are recommended with the Spinecor.

No way!!!! The weights on the head and shoulders????!! I'm in total shock! Next thing you're going to tell me is that dr. Waggon is a member of the SRS

I was surprised too (and pleased) after reading what you and others are saying about Pettibon - however it is true. We will discuss it more with him if we see him when we have the brace fitting later in the month.
