WOW, your post was like reading my own life story, except for the husband
I too am doing nursing and I too am suffering really bad lumbar and thoracic back pains. The surgeon's advice, do exercise and come back in a year. My answer to to that now, NO WAY! I am gonna go back and see him and I aint leaving until he does something to help me. Remember, with those doctors you really have to push hard for a solution, just keep ramming home the message and you will get what you want. I wish you well, and dont give up

Did you ever find pain relief?

I know this post is old, I came across it when I put in "I want to cry about my scoliosis" in a search engine.

I was recently told I have to have surgery, and it is a bit overwhelming. I am in pain most days, and I tend to get grouchy. I can't seem to get comfortable...ever.

Anyway, I was curious to see how your situation panned out. I hope you were able to get some relief.

I haven't logged on for a while and was actually surprised to see this old thread again.
Reading my old post brought back a lot to me and I thank you for bringing this up because it's made me see how much better I am since my surgery 17mths ago!

I was referred to a fantastic scoliosis specialist who took one look at me and recommended surgery.
I am still healing and it's been tough and although I'm still in pain-according to how far I push myself, I am better off than I was. Feeling straight is then best thing!

I would be interested to know how the person who started this thread is doing now.
