  • I have a blog

So I have a blog about my life with scoliosis. I have a small reader base of my friends and family but none of them have scoliosis. If you could look at it that would be epic and I want to see what other people with scoliosis think about it and maybe increase my reader base as well. The link is here: https://scoliaticblog.blogspot.com/
Male, 15 year old manly man of manliness diagnosed with scoliosis . I have had over 30 surgeries and have 70 degree scoliosis and a twisted spine that gave me a chest point and and a rib cage back hump. I am very open about my scoliosis and started a blog about it. If you can, please take a look. The link is https://scoliaticblog.blogspot.com/

How did you get into ballet? I always found classical and modern dance fascinating when I would see it on TV as a kid. Not that I ever wanted to be a dancer myself, just to watch it, the stories it tells. I go to live performances a few times a year.

My sister had been doing ballet for a bit and the studio needed more boy dancers and I was interested so I joined. Later I joined musical theatre and tap. I'm glad that I joined my classes because they help keep my back and lungs strong while also helping keep my body flexible.

It is fantastic that you are a dancer, and I hope you can return to dance as quickly as possible. Lifts might need to be postponed for awhile. Something important to ask your Dr.

I won't be able to lift thing over ten pounds for possibly the whole six months of recovery I'm not sure, but after a while I will be able to do bar work and will still be able to have buff dancer legs.

Do you still have a 70 degree curve or was that before all the surgeries?

No, I don't know what it's at right now but it's still visible and I notice it a lot in ballet and when I look in the mirror.

Is this going to be a longer recovery than that of your previous surgeries? You must have spent a long time, total, recovering from 30 surgeries.

Yes, the other recovery times were usually about two months and the longest was four from when I broke my rod this one is going to be about six months so it will be the longest by far.

You've spent about 5 years recovering from surgeries, then. You must be good at enduring recovery periods by now. Is this expected to be the last surgery coming up?

Is your sister still keeping up the ballet?

Do you sing as well as dance in your musical theater?

My final fusion is expected to be my final surgery as long as nothing goes wrong and I don't get another infection or something like that. My sister and most of my siblings are still doing ballet even during Covid although we still have to wear masks. When I was doing musical theater I had to sing, dance, and act at the same time while remembering my lines. It was hard but fun. Because of my lungs sometimes I couldn't always sing and dance at the same time and I would have to mouth it or run out of energy. It was dun and I miss it and I hope that I can do it again after Covid.

I once played Winthrop in the Music Man in the 9th grade.... "Gary Indiana, Gary Indiana, Gary Indiana, that's the place I rather be!" Also, had to sing and dance it with a lisp....and also won a large trophy at Rider College in Trenton, N.J. at a drama competition. I even looked like Ron Howard back then. (smiley face)

Cool! My class did The Music Man a year before I joined so I haven't done that play but my favorite one that I was in was either White Christmas or Marry Poppins. I got to be very loud in both of them as my character which was fun.
