  • It's my 20 year anniversary!

    Hi Forum Friends,

It's been a few years since my last visit to the forum.

I came back today to say thank you for all the support over the last 20+ years. The National Scoliosis Foundation & Forum has been such an amazing place to find support and community.

To celebrate my 20 year anniversary, I wrote a children's book called "Bonnie & Her Brace."
You can hear more about it here ---> gf.me/u/y7qw78

My dream is for the book to become a resource for those newly diagnosed and prescribed a brace. I'd love to donate copies to various scoliosis clinics once it's illustrated and published.

I wanted to share this here in case anyone wants to partner with me in making this book a reality. But also just to celebrate amongst people I know would get what a big deal it feels like to make it to 20 years post op, feeling great and thankful.

All the very best to each of you in your various stages of your scoliosis story.

    Sending you love!

Lisa, long time, no see! I am surprised your rods have not frozen up there in Edmonton! (smiley face)

I have no idea what bracing is like as an early teen since I was caught at age 16. Bracing was not recommended for my 50/50 "S" curve back in 1975. The diagnosis itself was a ton of bricks with a lot of questions...Your book will be a valuable adjunct to the available scoliosis literature.

      Congratulations on 20 years!

        Lisa,
Congratulations on your 20 year anniversary! My 10th was January 5. I'm glad to hear you are doing well. I think I'm doing fine, but will find out for sure on January 20th when I get x-rays for the first time in two years. Congratulations on writing a book! I'm sure that it would be helpful for those needing to wear a brace.

Glad to hear some people are doing well. How often do you long-timers have checkups with your surgeons (or is it with some other doctor after so many years)?

It would really help to hear from you so some of us can get an idea what the coming years might hold for us.

I think most people do well. I was on a one year check up protocol. It was an easy check up.
            For me other things happened.

I am doing well. Still have a balance issue but it is improving. All I hope is that now my hand function will improve
