  • Weed patch and DSUVIA

    Looks like a transdermal weed patch is in the pipeline....

    https://www.investors.com/news/marij...tock-portugal/

    ================================================== ===========================================

    DSUVIA is the strongest medication. FDA approved it in November. Its 5-10 times more powerful than Fentanyl, and 500 times more potent than Morphine.

    I don't know how this one would apply to scoliosis patients....just wanted to mention it since many of us have done Morphine in our surgeries, and there are a few Fentanyl patchers out there. Its hard to believe that its 500 times more potent than Morphine, sounds like it would be good for Elephant surgery.

    Duh....They already have the weed patch available, and in my home state.

    I have not been to any dispensaries. I drive by one when I go food shopping, so with the ice cream melting, I just never stop.

      Just what the world needs... something more powerful than Fentanyl. Wonder how many deaths a year they're estimating.

        I don't know, but the Fentanyl deaths are going through the roof. (Illegal Fentanyl) Just in the last few years.

        In Wiki, they mention that (DSUVIA) is used for surgery and post op management for patients that are "heavily opioid dependent"....

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sufentanil

        Tom Petty had an accidental overdose. Fractured hip, possibly broken, major pain and taking a whole host of opioids. Fentanyl was just one of them. An example of overuse of medications.

        You cant just keep increasing med's when things go wrong. Your going to stop breathing. I felt the respiratory depression myself on Percoset and knew that it couldn't continue. It wasn't solving the problem, it only made things worse. (Constipation at 6 weeks)

        If he would have gone to the hospital, he would still be alive now. If pain is excruciating, the pain problem needs to be addressed, not masked.

        The attached photo below is a lethal dose of Fentanyl. Dsuvia, is 5-10X stronger...

          Linda, These medications would be in a hospital setting only.....or perhaps by the military, in war zones.

          Dr Palmer was involved at UCSF and ran the pain dept for around 13 years. UCSF is one of 6 centers in the world that lead in pain excellence. You might have seen her at some point while you worked at UCSF.

          In the video below, they explain about IV and Oral med delays, and the rapid exit time. One thing I noticed after being injected, I was out in approx 6 seconds with zero pain, and then would wake up 50-60 minutes later in pain. They limited the shots to every 4 hours, so I had to wait for the next injection. I had 6 injections per day for 10 days which was a lot of re-dosing. If you can increase this time, it would help quite a bit for pain control in the hospital.....

          For readers, My scoliosis surgeries along with the cancer exploration were involved procedures and I needed a maximum pain program. Chances are that you shouldn't worry about this. Improvements are being made every day.
