        Do they have proof?

        Structural curves or functional curves?

        Permanently?

I'll just add it is not to hard to be more effective at Schroth at straightening the spine. The developer now routinely uses braces and admits PT doesn't work.

This question is asked in their latest instagram post and they replied. Can someone at NSF contact the developer and invite them to this forum? Their phone number and email address are in the youtube videos. I emailed my xray to them but haven't received a reply.

I didn't see any radiographs in that Instagram post. Therefore no proof.

Also, you can stand differently and produce at least a 10 degree reduction in the curve. That is probably what is happening here.

I'm 47 and my curves are 23 and 13. I'm 6'2 or 6'3 depending on my alignment. When I was 36, I drove myself to the ER with chest pains and dizzy spells. The ER checked me out but I found help with a chiropractor a few days later; he made me taller on my first visit and I've been seeing him ever since.

                    Hi Tilted...

The chance that your scoliosis caused chest pains and dizzy spells is about as close to zero as possible.

Your curves are very small, and at 47 years old, there's also about zero chance that they will ever increase enough that you'd need treatment for scoliosis.

I agree with Linda, your curves are small......I wouldn't worry about it. Many people have small curves.

Be careful with the promises, especially when it comes to correction. I think its the people that promise the most, (Like 50% correction in 1 hour, that you should be the most weary of) Suddenly, there is this miracle alternative answer, and the whole world has been wrong for the last 100 years, or since Hippocrates, and he was on the scene 300BC. That was a long time ago. (smiley face)

The only way to know what your curves are is with an x-ray. Anyone who draws lines on photos cannot determine spine shape. The girl on the Instagram link 3rd down left and center needs to see a scoliosis surgeon, and a good one. Making promises and misleading someone like her with large 100 degree curves is pretty bad. We have seen this happen here before where surgical candidates need immediate surgical intervention. These people are certainly not trained to handle a deformity of this magnitude, and should not be using it on their site as a scare tactic. This is a bad sign and I figured I would point this out. They need to be honest and remove those photos right away. (smug face)

I used Chiro for pain for around 30 years....Chiropractic will not correct curves. Been there done that. I needed surgery but skiing took a priority. I pretty much destroyed my spine skiing like the skiers in this video. Skiing down the pillows did me in and the bad crashes didn't help....This kind of powder skiing is heaven....and its a drug. This is in British Columbia.

Dizzies are "usually" related to your inner ears, and viruses. Chest pain can be anything. X-rays are also used to look for other things like cancer, its not just about the spine. X-rays are good diagnostic tools.

People do live with really large curves.....and it amazes me since I have battled major pain over many years. Many of us learn to manage our pain in various ways. The most economical way is simply laying down. I also like hot water therapy, finding a hot tub will help you with your pain. NSAID's (Non steroidal anti-inflammatories)are good to have on standby, never to be abused. Something like Celebrex, Diclofenac, you can get these from your GP. Chiro's are not MD's so you cant get these from them.

Thanks for writing this so clearly and honestly, Ed.

Tilted, we all know that it is easy to misunderstand our medical situation and to draw correlations where none exist. I have misunderstood my daughters' surgeon on a few occasions. As Linda said, there is almost no chance of a connection between any of your symptoms and your small scoliosis curve.

If you have pain it could be that your curve has advanced but I doubt that also. Your curve was/is under 30* and that is thought to be protective of further worsening over your lifetime to surgical levels EVEN IF YOU DO NOTHING.

Chiro is not a science and it has no ability to correct your curve or even stop any progression. The only evidence for any chiro is for lower back pain but chiro is no better than massage in this regard. It probably works by placebo if it works at all.

Save your money. Just staying fit, working out, etc. is going to be better than chiro. Chiro is nonsense. If you have back pain, try to build your core. If that doesn't work, try PT. That is evidence-based whereas chiro is largely not.

                              On a side note....

In watching extreme skiing videos and reading all the stories about the various skiing injuries, it makes me wonder. Are we athletes? Many of the hardcore skiers have broken various body parts, Tanner Hall has many screws and plates in both ankles....both his knees have been re-built, these guys are not going to stop skiing and living with scoliosis amounts to the same thing, we are also not stopping. Sport is a competitive physical activity or game, we surely don't compete, and its no game, but living with scoliosis can be compared with a strenuous physical activity that can require great exertion physically and mentally. Before or after scoliosis surgery, adult or child, regardless of treatment modality, it doesn't matter.

I think we are all athletes in various forms of recovery....Scoliosis athletes....

Now what we need to do is pick up a sponsorship and get paid for what we do! (smiley face) Red Bull, I wont drink it, but you can pay me....

As patients, and or athletes, I think we all deserve to congratulate ourselves for our efforts. Our efforts involve pain and misery, which is something we think about often, but how often do we ever think about how well we have done considering our situations? Have we done well? We have done well....

Skiers always try to have a good run....and they are always stoked regardless of conditions. I have been there.

I try to think about this philosophy when I can..... Scoliosis patients having that good run.
