  • origin of muscles of the spine after surgery

my surgeon told me that he cut the spinous processes of the vertebrae to stimulate bone fusion and use those bone fragments as bone graft. My question is: as some muscles attach there and have its origin there what happens after? Where do they reattach those muscles?

I have been watching some scoli surgery intra-op videos on youtube but the op is not shown in full so I wonder how do they reattach those muscles. In the videos I have seen the bones are full exposed so it seems all the muscles are retracted.

    any ideas?

I have been having some pain around the incision . I don t know if it is pain from the muscles, from the ligaments( btw, what happens to the ligaments after bones are fused ( they have no function to provide), epidural fibrosis or some inflammation around the spinal cord.
