How fortunate she is to have a beautiful face in a "lookist" society. In this regard her self-exposure is advantaged, as brutal as her pain must be (I can't imagine).

I would not have thought to hear her deformity called "scoliosis". She is certainly remarkable to function as well as she does. I give her parents part of the credit. (I assume the scar on her back tells the tale of a previous failed or at least, inadequate, surgery.)

She reminds me how blessed I am to have been able to benefit from spinal surgery.
Not all diagnosed (still having tests and consults) but so far:
          Ehler-Danlos (hyper-mobility) syndrome, 69 - somehow,
          main curve L Cobb 60, compensating T curve ~ 30
Flat back, marked lumbar kyphosis (grade?) Spondilolisthesis - everyone gives this a different grade too. Cervical stenosis op'd 3-07, minimally invasive

            I read her story afterwards.
            Wow!
She's been through so much. How apt that she's receiving her award from the hands of Stephen Hawking.
            And still:
" My condition cannot be fixed as it is too dangerous but University has helped me to accept myself for who I am and how I look and I wouldn’t change myself for anything”.
