  • Surgery is Tuesday

    Hi there

Well, the long road is ending with surgery on Tuesday for DD15's spinal fusion. As you can read here, didn't think we'd end up here, but here we are. We are having it done at Lurie Children's in Chicago. Last check she was still sitting around 60 degrees thoracic and 30 lumbar, which puts her basically unchanged since end of March, but her back pain is much worse. She can hardly walk more than about twenty yards before she has to sit down. I'll be so glad when this is done, and as the surgeon said to us, we can get on with our lives.

Prayers, good wishes, fingers cross, whatever you got, appreciated. Scary stuff for us all.

    cello_mom,

Your daughter can do this. You can do this.

Both my daughters has curves near 60* and they both had fast recoveries and great outcomes, so much so that scoliosis is not an issue in our family. My girls have so completely moved on in their lives that it is as if it didn't happen. It is over six years ago for the one and almost five years ago for the other. It is a distant past memory.

Your daughter and your family will get to that point also.

    Good luck.
Sharon, mother of identical twin girls with scoliosis

    No island of sanity.

Question: What do you call alternative medicine that works?
    Answer: Medicine

    "We are all African."
