  • Rainbow children and babies hospital..

Has anyone's child gone to Rainbow children and babies hospital in Cleveland for their surgery? (or any kind of treatment. Doesn't have to be scoliosis related). How was your experience? I made an appointment for Ashleigh to see an orthopedic surgeon up there on the 20th. I want to be 100% confident in the doctor we're choosing. And i thought i was 100% confident in the surgeon we had, but then my husband started hesitating and it got me thinking, maybe we should check out other hospitals and doctors. My SIL is making me a nervous wreck though. Her son was hospitalized at Rainbow and they had a terrible time there. She kept going on about how there was dirt in the corners of the room, and to many patients not enough nurses. I don't want her to be at a dirty under staffed hospital! Especially since she'll be having major surgery. I'm hoping her's is the exception and not the rule.

Why don't you ask for a tour of the hospital? I don't know if they do that but I think they might.

      what about Shriner's?

      Hi,

I have no experience with Rainbow, but your SIL's report is concerning. My daughter had surgery at Shriner's Hospital (in St Louis, though there are others closer to you). She had absolutely stellar care from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. My daughter's nurses frequently had just one other child in their care, and she received tons of attention from the nurses, doctors and respiratory therapists. It really made her surgery a wonderful experience, considering the circumstances.

Best of luck, and I think it is extremely smart to get at least one other expert opinion from a pediatric scoliosis specialist.
