I haven't asked them about the incision sites in a few years. Last I knew they did not regain sensation at the incision site. I do not remember itching but others on the forum definitely mentioned that.

I will ask them. If you have other questions about the out years, please let me know and I will ask them.

Thing 2: "no it's still pretty numb around the incision"

Thing 1 was fused in March 2008 and Thing 2 was fused in October 2009.

You mention “Thing” and I’m thinking Addams family... If you remember, Thing was a hand and didn’t have a spine. Scoliosis is therefore impossible with things.

On that line of thought, Cousin Itt would have worked well especially if they have long hair. Many teenaged girls talk fast and have the same exact accent. LOL

I called Crystal “Pupa” all her life (27 years).....it seemed fitting. When she graduated med school, I told her that I couldn’t call her Pupa anymore (with a very concerned look on my face). She told me that hearing that from me, was the highlight of her graduation.....It was all very heavy....He he

Cello mom, The itching should stop at some point....Opoid’s have a tendency to make you itchy for some reason.

            Hey Ed,

That was a blast from the past! Thanks.

I use Thing 1 and 2 in the context of the Dr. Suess book, "The Cat in the Hat" which has characters with those names. :-)

Not opioids as she hasn't had anything in weeks. She hasn't taken any meds at all, just a Tylenol, since week three. I think it s a combination of healing skin and sensations in some spots not others.

Thank you for checking with your children!

Oh I forgot to ask them if the incision was itchy. I seem to recall them saying that at the time. I'll ask them.

                  Itching Sensation

                  Cello_mom,

It wasn’t the same surgery, but 31 years ago I had surgery and the roughly 8 inch incision “itched” for well over a year. It was itchy, almost tingly, not quite the feeling of a limb that has “gone to sleep”—more like the feeling as sensation returns to your mouth after dental work. Clothing rubbing the scar was irritating. The oddness of not being able to feel myself scratching or rubbing the incision eventually disappeared, but that loss of feeling took an even longer time to dissipate than the itching feeling.
