have blood work orders from endocrinologist for mid June...
i am still exhausted...don't feel any different since last blood work, when cortisol was 2.1
they tell me the ACTH coming back is a good sign...but i am still exhausted....
also, one doesn't heal well like this, and nails and hair grow slower...

not impressed with endocrinologist...he actually suggested putting me on prednisone
if i want dental surgery (have to put a hold on implant surgery for now) or spinal
surgery....i could not believe my ears...
what surgeon of any quality would operate on a woman with such low cortisol that she
needs prednisone to get thru surgery and healing...answer is no good spinal surgen would do that!
as if i would expect surgery under those conditions to work anyway...
awful suggestion...could not even believe he said it...
and he is supposed to be tops in his field...
i doubt i'll be his patient much longer...he is only good for
    blood work orders...

I could understand if you needed an EMERGENCY surgery, giving you the steroids. But for ELECTIVE surgery? I agree with you, Jess. I can't imagine any competent surgeon agreeing to operate with such low cortisol levels. Hang in there, I'm sure they'll be up and you will be feeling better. I hope sooner than later. ((((HUGS))))

the good news is that my cortisol is up to
low normal of 12.01...my hormone doc wants to
see it at 15, but i am pleased it is going in the right
direction...i kinda figured, cause my hair is growing
          at a more normal rate...

the bad news is my baby Maltese puppy is very sick...
he was seen Monday and found to maybe have a
cyst, and scheduled for another ultrasound in a week, with specialist.....but he got so much worse since then, i rushed
him to vet today...his regular vet is off...
he has bad UTI again...swollen prostate, he couldn[t
pee...anyway, long story short, he was catheterized,
given antibiotics, anti inflammatory shot, and will see his
          regular vet tomorrow...
other wise, he was going to have to stay at the hospital....
as it is, if he can't pee tonite, i have to rush him to
          emergency...

i can handle my having anything...but not him..
i waited years to get this puppy...he is my therapy
buddy...he may need surgery....i will do whatever...
he has to be OK...he is a little angel baby...

                    Jess,

Oh I hope it kicks in soon. He's such a good little guy.

And I am so glad your cortisol rebounded. That was dicey.

Great news about your cortisol. Hope it's not long before you reach 15. Are you feeling better?

                        Jess,
That is GREAT news about your cortisol! I guess that actually proves that it was the steroid injections that caused the drop. That is a relief that it wasn't something metabolicly wrong with you. Maybe you can still get shots in the future, but with a LOT more caution to how much is given and how often. At least you know that if you opt for your surgery, you'll be okay. Are you feeling more energetic, yet? I'd imagine that your pain alone would zap your energy. I hope you feel better soon.

So sorry to hear about Sparky. (sad face) How old is Sparky? If he's young, why would he be having prostate trouble? That seems odd. I hope he's better soon, too!
                        Be happy!

thanks Maria, Sharon, Jen and Rohr....
yes, i am feeling a little better, though not the energy level before
the cortisol drop happened...but i am very grateful for the improvement...

worried about pup...thanks for the kind concerns for him, too....
he is only 5, which is 33 in people years...also, vet and internet say this
is very rare for a neutered dog, which he is, and for a small breed,
which he is...i think it is from many months of UTI's, when they looked at the
wrong end of his apparatus, so to speak...but i cannot prove it...
just have to see how he makes it thru tonite, and tomorrow's appt...
                          also ultra sound Monday....again...
i do not care if it takes surgery...months and months of antibiotics still
                          allowed this to happen...
i just want him well...whatever it takes...

thanks again for the kindness and compassion.....
