    One year anniversary today

Hi all - I haven't been on here for a while. Miss keeping up. Just had to share what an amazing year it has been. Today is April 15, 2011. Reading back in my blog on April 15, 2010, quite a different day. As we woke up this morning my husband said well one year ago you were in pre-op. I said yes, and weren't we naive. We had no idea of what we were going into. And yet now a year on the other side, I would do it all again. Through blood loss, pure pain, pain management meds, bowels, Thrush, major infection, PIC line and treatment for months for infection, months of physical therapy....look at me today! So healthy I need to lose 10 lbs.

I just had to share this momentous day with the surgeon who brought me through such a difficult surgery. So off I drove, with a yummy cake smelling good in the car, to Dr. Herkowitz's office this morning. It was so fun to surprise and mostly thank him for all he does. I hated missing Nancy, his fantastic medical assistant. What a dynamo team the two of them are. I go for my one year check-up early in May. Can't wait to see the Xrays one year later. And I hear from many on here that the second year you continue to get even stronger and feel even better.

For all of you still contemplating surgery, every journey is different, but I can say having 110% confidence in your surgeon and your own attitude about the surgery and faith, will make an impact for the positive.

I can remember writing on here I can't wait to be on the other side. Seems surreal that I have been on the other side for a year already. Thank you to all of you here, for the support you share and wisdom you spread. I know it helped me so much!
