Surgery on Tuesday - Stressing out!

    Hi Everyone,

I am having my surgery on Tuesday, and for the last 2 weeks I have been battling some really annoying allergies! I have had a very slight tickle in my throat and as of yesterday some mild pressure in my sinuses. I called the nurse today just to make sure there wasn't anything to worry about, and she said well if it turns into an infection we would have a problem for surgery.

Now I am trying to get to a doctor tonight to have them check me out and make sure it's not an infection. I guess if it was, they would cancel the surgery. Talk about very last minute stress!!

Just wanted to vent . I will keep you all posted!

    Jamie

    Hi JamieAnn.
I know how you feel about a possible infection. I had a bad cold four weeks before my surgery and had a persistent cough. I was checked out by my PCP and pretesting and was declared good to go, but it sure was stressful in the meantime. I'll be thinking of you and hoping for the best.

Hi Jamie, just before my scheduled surgery I also had a very bad racking cough, when I went for my preop, I mentioned the situation to the nurse, she also said not to worrty -- although I was so nervous about the surgery, I remember hoping this would be a reason to reschedule! All went as scheduled, and all went well...

Thank you everyone for your replies.

I went for a quick check up at the doctor tonight, and they said to start taking flonase again to help avoid my allergy symptoms turning into a sinus infection. I had stopped all pills/medication of any kind a few days ago, as I thought this was the instruction for pre-surgery. Hopefully this is ok!

Hang in there Jamieann, it's probably just your body feeling your anxiety. Try to relax and you shall see, it will be OK. Best wishes.

JamieAnn-- sending prayers and peaceful thoughts your way. Very soon you'll be on the other side of surgery, and won't that be a blessing... I'm praying all will go smoothly and your recovery will be normal.

Do you have someone to post and let us know how you're doing after the surgery? We'd all love to hear the good news! Can't wait to hear from you when you're up to it-- with that straighter and taller body! Hugs, Susie
