Me, too. Seems like we know too much and not enough.

Really hope she comes out of this soon. Sounds like she has a great family. I've been reading her CarePages and it's rough.

Many thoughts and prayers for her....

"Brenda continues to improve. The pneumonia is subsiding. Hopefully in a day or two, the breathing tube can be removed."

That's great news. She is also responding to questions with shaking or nodding her head.

Keep up the hard healing work Brenda!

          There is light

I am so sorry you have to go through this. I had a terrible sense of dread when we were dealing with infection and the next series of events. It
did end and the world did fall apart. The intubation is hard. When both of my daughters were in ICU they could hear what we seed semi concious. Talk, talk, talk some more! Please get Child Life involved ! They worked wonders for my daughter each hospitalization. Please pm me if you need to you. Mary

                    Good news...

They keep you in such a fog, I doubt she will remember any of the past 2 weeks...

I had people that came down to visit me and I didn’t remember them coming at all. The lights were on, but nobody was home. "But we had a conversation, don’t you remember?" Nope. Sorry. When you are having issues and they "bomb" you, it truly is the twilight zone.

Any day now, she will post to the forum.

Brenda Ross September 13, 2010 at 08:51 PM MST

Today has been one of the great days of my life. I have my wife back. I came to the hospital this morning prepared for Brenda to have a tracheotomy. I was met by a beautiful, dark haired nurse who said that she had talked to the doctor and told him if the intubation tube was taken out, she thought Brenda could breathe on her own. To keep it short, that's exactly what happened.

Right after the tube was removed, the nurse looked at me and said, "She wants to talk to you." We talked all day, grateful for what we have: each other. This was an answer to all our hopes and prayers.

Brenda realizes she almost died a week ago Sunday and is grateful to be alive even though she is in a lot of pain. She's willing to fight the battle and get to where she wants to be.

Again, we are grateful for all of the thoughts and prayers offered on our behalf. I don't know why prayers are answered sometimes and not other times, but we are so thankful for Brenda being able to start on the road to recovery.

Tomorrow she'll try to sit in a chair. I know that will be a challenge, but we'll keep working and being positive. Thank you to each of you for your kindnesses and prayers...and to Brenda's nurse Jessica!

I'm so glad to hear such good news that Brenda is coming around and having such great signs of recovery, I didn't realize she was looking at a high risk surgery. I know what an emotional toll this took on my husband until he knew I was out of harms way. My prayers will go out to her, her husband and her family. Thanks to those of you who kept us posted through her "Care pages" at her hospital (if I have that right).

                                Update from Brenda's Husband

"We spent the last day today with Brenda's super nurse, Jessica. Jessica is the one who talked the doctor out of doing a trac on Brenda. We will miss her.
Brenda is still in critical condition in ICU, but you wouldn't know it to see her and talk to her. She is very weak, however, Ken, Rod,Steph and kids today wore her out, although she enjoyed every minute. She is smiling more and keeping her eyes open and even moving her legs a bit which bodes well for walking in the future. I doubted she would live at times, but never doubted that she would walk if she lived. Walking is looking better every day. Brenda's recovery will be slow. If she returns home to Payson before Halloween, I'll be surprised, but then Brenda never ceases to surprise me. Right now we just need to get her energy levels up."

I put a reply on her Care Page that she was in our ( forum friends) thoughts and prayers and that we were wishing her the best with her continued recovery.
