Hope you're continuing to keep the pain at bay...

I know that you were kidding although it did seem like the best suggestion offered.

The worst pain seems to be gone for a few days . I never know what the morning will bring

    Thanks for asking

I have learned to live one day at a time. Never worry about yesterday - it's gone anyway. And, don't worry about tomorrow what it might or might not be. Does any of this make sense? It came from a very dear friend of mine. I try to keep it in my mind as much as i can.

        Melissa,
        ((((HUGS))))
I know first hand how unpredictable pain can be. I am currently on fentanyl, percocet, klonopin and soma. Believe it or not, the meds do not always work. Much of the time I simply put ice packs on my muscle spasms and lay down. If that doesn't work, sometimes heat does. I think having people understand that you just HURT sometimes makes you feel validated and keeps the depression away. I hope they can stabilize you BS and keep it that way so you can have your surgery. I'm hoping surgery will help and I can get off the meds. I see a pain specialist on Thursday. They have never been any help in the past. Some on here swear by them, though. It can't hurt to try. Are you seeing someone who specializes in pain management until you can get your surgery? It might be worth a go. Anyway, I realize you are not looking for answers. It's just I can relate. My Dr. didn't want to do surgery right away because he's afraid of causing me more pain than I am already in. It is very frustrating. How much suffering can a person take? A lot, as we know!!! I hope you are feeling much better today.
        Be happy!
We don't know what tomorrow brings,
        but we are alive today!

the best help i've found has been the botox for my thoracic muscle spasms...unfortunately, nothing has really helped the lumbar pain for me...
the unpredictibility of pain forced me to retire early...even though most days i could predict that i would be in pain! especially if it was damp out...rainy days are the worst!
validation of pain no longer does much for me...especially if/when the pain gets relentless! that is when i just stand in hot showers, use moist heating pads (far better than dry!) and give thanks for my puppy, who lays in bed with me...his is the validation best for me!

          woof!

Hi there Melissa! I along with everyone else here knows the pain you're going through. I too had some complications with pain meds. Some were good others not so much. It is going to hurt for a while but it gets better! Waiting sucks but ,at least for me, the 6th week was the magic week when everything turned around. Its not an easy recovery :{ but you will get past it. And I only remember a few things from the weeks of intense recovering so I hope thats reassuring. HANG IN THERE!!!!!! And sleep all you can
            All the Best,
