There's a lot written about blame in this thread.

I think this is exactly what it is. He doesn't want to talk about it because he'd have to admit something he did is lacking. You're lucky he's even entertaining the conversation with you. I've had a...
But if your back literally flattens and loses its curve it has to change shape. How can this happen if the spine and the rods don't bend?
Wow. How is that possible? The metal rods would have to bend, wouldn't they?
Is flat back possible after a full fusion?
I don't think it matters where it is impacted. My point was, a nerve can take a long time to heal after the compression is removed.
I was told by my hand surgeon that it could take a year for my ulnar nerve to heal and for my hand to feel normal again.
Are you saying you should have had the knee surgery earlier, while you were still early in recovery from the broken back sugery?
I thought it was risky to schedule surgeries close together, that...
The knee surgery couldn't wait, I take it?
With a broken back were you completely inactive? In bed most of the time?
Age is probably a factor as well. I was in my early twenties, close to Scoliatic's age.
I went through periods of building myself up when I was younger and it took 6 months of neglect to fully lose what I had gained.
This is a great idea. I wish I had done this.
I'm a heck of a lot older than you and am closer to having osteoporosis since having the surgery. I blame this on inactivity. It takes a long time to...
What percentage of all surgeons doing spinal fusion for scoliosis were trained in these elite schools? What's wrong with going with surgeons who were trained somewhere else, what do they lack?
Linda, what do you think is missing if the surgeon didn't go through a complex spine fellowship? What has a greater chance of going wrong without that training? Or what do fellowship-trained surgeons...
Do ask about the physical limitations you will have after the surgery. It pays to find out what they can be and ask specific questions: "Will I be able to tie my shoes, clip my toenails, put on socks...
You have mentioned pain and lots of people want the surgery for pain. Say I was going for surgery again and one of my goals was to have scoliosis-related pain in a particular part of my body go away....
These are great questions that I wish I had asked. I was the most naïve person in the world. I thought the surgery would restore me to near normalcy. Didn't even realize how inflexible my spine would...
The way to hide imperfections is supposedly with loose clothing, complicated cuts (pleats or whatever), distracting patterns. Men don't have as many options as women when it comes to variety of...
I read some of your blog. You've been through a lot. I like your writing style. I don't know what it is about scoliosis, but there are a lot of younger people with scoliosis who can think and write...
I had two surgeries with a less than great outcome and ended up not being on good terms with my surgeon. It was more his behavior than the outcome that is causing problems. You shouldn't go by one...
How do you know they are getting surgery? Don't scare him/her away.
Oops. Never mind, I just read in the other thread that Scoliatic has already had a bunch of surgeries.
Hi, ErinMK.
This must be your surgeon?

I had only a vague sense of what a physiatrist is and lumped them in with healers I would never think of trying, like chiropractors and acupuncturists. I think the word "holistic" being associated...
Institutions in my area have merged into two or three major monolithic hospitals. They are like the Amazon and Google of my area. This is the way the world is going -- monopolies. It's bad for...
If they're not part of my medical records, do I have as much right to see them as I do my medical records? And would I have to get them directly from the physician rather than from the medical...
