Hello everyone,
I'm new to the board and am reaching out for help with 17-year old daughter's pain. She had a thorocolumbar curve, 28T, 47L and was fused from T9 to L3 three weeks ago. She is nearly curve-free now, but is in debilitating pain with her right leg, primarily her knee. This is the leg where her curve was previously was on top of. She can't walk, stand or sit. She says it's like a blow-torch is being spayed on her knee and she gets zaps of pain in her thigh starting at her hip.
She was re-admitted to the hospital but after a CAT scan and MRI, her surgeon could come up with no reason for her pain. He couldn't detect any moved or misplaced hardware. She is home again and can do nothing but lay on her right side all day and night as that is the only thing that somewhat helps the pain.
Has anyone else had this experience? I'm terrified that this is a permanent issue. No pain medicines have relieved this at all including morphine and Gabapentin. Her pediatrician saw her today and told her that she needed to go on anti-anxiety meds. Her solution is to dope her up with psychiatric drugs!
Please, please help. Any comments or suggestions you may have would be very appreciated. Thank you.
