A lot of what if's on what your back pain is from, can't be said without being a medical doctor or knowing lots of other stuff, and sometimes back pain can't be "pinned" on anything. Back pain can be from lots of things not necessercarily all related to having scoliosis (esp if its lower back pain). From what I know some people get back pain from their scoliosis (from how the curves sitting), it could also be muscle spasms, pain from ovulation during periods, twisting in the wrong way, weak muscles. Something like physiotherapy (physical therapy) could help with the back pain, either through things such as massage, exercises to strengthen your back muscles etc

I have just found out on October 29, 2004 that I have Scoliosis. I have had BAD back pain in my lower left side now for 2 1/2 months that has been never ending. My doctor has tried to out in physical Therapy. But this makes the pain almost unbearable. I have a 3 1/2 year old daughter that I have been limited to what I can do with her. Yesterday was Halloween and I was in such bad pain I could bear to walk up and down the street to take her trick or treating. Has what are some suggestions you all would have to help relieve this pain to the point that I could at least stand?

          hey guys,
i get this funny sound in my back sometimes later in the day usually where i can like, you know when one ear gets plugged and its like you can hear how you breathe almost in your head, that's what it's like, only it's in my back. it only happens when i rotate my upper body side to side, but i hate it, its scary, does anyone know what to do or what this is??

            Hillary,

I don't have scoliosis, my son does, but I know the sound you are describing. I can hear the same thing sometimes (from me, not my son). It seems a little weird, but I don't think it's anything to worry about. At least, after all these years, I hope not

I'm really curious about the pain issue. It seems like the doctors are dead set against admitting that scoliosis can cause pain, or they try to make the patient (and parents) feel foolish for associating the back pain with the scoliosis - yet, I've read numerous accounts of surgery patients saying the surgery diminished their back pain a great deal. My son has pain much of the time and has been very accurate when he says he thinks his curves have progressed, just by the amount and location of pain. He also gets pain down his legs and arms and tingling, too. He's had a full work-up of MRI's and x-rays and they just say "eh, it's probably because you're so skinny." I hope he gets relief from the surgery.

Marcie, Get a second opinion and see a specialist. No one should be so debilitated that they can't spend good quality time with their child. I hope you will find some relief.

I don't seem to get this as bad as you, but every once in a while my back will start to hurt really bad. It doesn't hurt to breathe or to move suddenly, but it will start to hurt so bad that I have to take ibuprofen. I have a 17 degree curve. As of December 12th.

Hey everybody. Well, I was just in the Neighborhood (Watching and waiting), lol, and thought I would just come and see how everyone is doing. Well, I just want to clarify that I was in some imense pain before surgery. I couldn't really do anything without being in pain all the time. Well, after I had my surgery in Sept 2004, the pain got a whole lot better. Yes, for about 4 months I was in some pretty extreme pain bc of the surgery, but its all worth the surgery, not just for the pain, but for cosmetic reasons also. You dont have the horrible hump, uneven shoulders, or twisted look. So, if anyone has any other questions, I would be delighted to answer them. Take care everyone and I hope you have a great start to a new year!
