View Full Version : Anyone heard from Str8nup?

Has anyone heard how Reggie (str8nup) is doing? I've only seen the posts that his wife left right after his surgery but haven't heard from him since! He had surgery with Dr. Lenke at the end of October, so I would have thought we'd have heard from him by now! (maybe he is doing so well he decided to ditch this site, haha!)

I've also been wondering about Reggie.

Hello all,

I'm sorry I haven't posted anything in a while. I am doing fine now. After surgery, I went to the Rehab Institute of St. Louis. I didn't like it at all, it was a great place but some of the techs (1) ruined my stay. Other than her, it was a great place. The physical therapists are wonderful. The facility itself is very nice and up to date. My surgery went very well. I had only one complication, I was discharged without a pulse in my right foot. Well let me rephrase that. On the night of my surgery, I had 20+ vascular specialists checking my right foot for a pulse. One of the specialists said he found a slight pulse. At my first post op visit (8 weeks later) Dr. Lenke saw my foot. It was swollen like crazy, bright red/purplish in color, and black spots on two toes. He immediately told me that his office would schedule an appointment with vascular at the hospital. That appointment was on12-18-08. I was told at the appointment that I would loose my right leg because I didn't have a pulse. Surgery was performed on 12-19. The surgery was a success, they saved my leg by putting in an artificial artery from my chest to my femoral artery. THANK GOD!! I was very scared as was my family. God answered alot of prayers. I am doing fine now, I went from 20% circulation to 75% circulation in my leg. I still may loose a toe or two but that beats a leg. Overall, I was pleased with the back surgery. Some other things are left to be desired. Thanks to all for the prayers and well wishes. Happy late new year to everyone.

I've been thinking a lot of you & I'm so glad to hear you're spinal surgery at least went well - but I'm so sorry to hear about the other IDIOT doctors. I have to precede this rant the disclaimer that I've rarely met a doctor who was incompetent, & the reminder that most out there are very good at what they do. But.....Where On Earth Did Those Docs Get Their Brains From???? I'm quite convinced that some doctors extract their medical licenses from a box of Fruit Loops.

So, so glad that your surgeon was able to get you in quickly with the vascular surgeon & that your leg could be saved!

I'll be thinking much of you & your family & hoping you can keep even all those toes. Here's to a much happier, healthier 2009, Reggie!

Take care.

Hi Reggie,

So sorry to hear about your very worrying complications. Sounds like the worst is over now and I hope you can look forward to a smooth recovery and a happy 2009. Thanks for letting us know. It's a bit worrying when one of our co-scoli patients drops off the earth. :D

Reggie-- thanks for the update. It sounds like you've been through so much, but now, at last, things are looking up for you. I'm so sorry about the leg problem, but how wonderful that it turned out ok for you after all. And hopefully your toes will be survivors too... Keep us posted from time to time on how you're doing. Sometimes we need encouragement and support during recovery too. Take care. --Susie

Hi Reggie,

So glad to hear from you. It's too bad you had such a serious complication, but I'm glad it turned out not to be the worst case scenario. Just keep on healing now and take good care of yourself. Sally

wow Reggie- so sorry about your complications. That had to be totally frightening to think you would lose your leg. I will be praying your toes stay intact also. Hope everything else is progressing well.

Hi All,

Thanks so much for the prayers and concern. I just want to let everyone know that I had my post op visit with my vascular surgeon Wednesday. Everything went very well. My toes are slowing heeling and I get to keep them! Thank the Lord. I also get to go back to work this next week. I am very excited about that.

Thanks again for all the support. And to anyone out there that is getting ready for surgery, don't be scared off by my story. I just had an unusual side effect. Dr. Lenke is a GREAT surgeon, it was just some of the other staff. So, I will end this by wishing everyone getting ready for surgery the best of luck. If anyone needs to talk, contact me by email at str8nnup@yahoo.com.

God bless everyone and a late Happy New Year.
