Hello, I have a sister who just found out that her curve is also worse, which apparently is quite common. additionally she has begun to experience many other health problems related to scoliosis, please after seeing what she is going thru I urge you to get to a scoliosis specialist before other problems occurr. God bless you, Linda please feel free to write me via email if you like.

        Hi ladyg_cw,

You sure are not alone here, my scoliosis is becoming much more severe and is starting to cause me some beautiful pain and difficulties in sleeping and walking. I had my surgery in 1954 and I do not have any supportive metal or screws of any kind including rods. Back in those days you were lucky to survive the surgery and walk away, they only gave me a fifty-fifty chance of living thru the surgery and less then that of ever walking again. But I fooled them, the scoliosis did not really wake up until I turned fifty-four years of age. Now I can not work, because of the discomfort and pain that shoots through my legs and back, when ever it feels like it. The weather really sets me off also, but anyway, I lived a pretty normal life, but it has caught up with me. I would have avoided much more physical work and activities if I knew what I know now. Hang in there, and fight for your rights.

Hello, Just wanted to let you know some of the things my sisters dr has told her: He is an ortho surgeon, according to him the surgery can be redone if necessary, he suggests getting in touch with the original surgeon or contacting some of the specialists in San Francisco, He mentioned several and I know that you can get their names from the moderator on this site, Im sorry I dont remember the names now. one of those senior moments!!!!, also get a lung specialist if you have any chest problems so far the lung Dr. has been the most helpful and most knowledgeable. He has given Bev several tips on how to breath, sleep, sit etc., Bev's fusion is in the lower/mid back and the area where the curve has worsened is up higher which is also much more common, The surgeon said this is due to the type of fusion and rods which were commonly used .
I hope this helps, please stay in touch/God Bless you LindaW

              Hi Letty,
Ok for those that are interested in medical, the thoracic levocurvature is estimated to be approximately 45 degrees angulation and perhaps as much as 60 degrees using the COBB technique, a broad dextrorotocuvature of the thoraculumbar spine is not entierely included on a single film. The short segment levocurvature in the lower lumbar spine is estimated to be perhaps 20-25 degrees. (Severe scoliotic curvatures through the thoracolumbar spine)
There is a marked dextro convex scoliosis of the thoracolumbar spine, mild spondylotic changes within the lumbar spine, loss of normal signal as well as height of the intervertebral disc at multiple levels with the lumbar spine to varyiny degrees, mild spinal stenosis in a lateral dimension at the L3-L4, L4-L5, and the L5-S1 levels. Degenerative Arthritic changes, facets.
              Keep on trucking.....
