  • A sorta pic of my back pre-op ...

Remember, I told you my mom (seriously NOT technologically competent) took the pic the morning of surgery.

She chopped off quite a bit, but you can clearly see the right shoulder blade, and some of the curve.

    Here it is!

Look at you with a waist on both sides pre surgery! Your mom did a great job. she could have cut you in half too.

        Geish: Scar looks great

        To Geish,

Your scar looks great. I had my surgeries the same tiem (Dec11 & 13/07) and my scar is still very red/purple. It may be because I have olive complexion ?but I was wondering, are you putting anything special on your scar??? I've been using Mederma the last month or so but do not apply it 3 -4 times a day as they recommend.

Sorry to hijack this thread for a post...
Jan, I haven't put anything on my scar at all. My Dr used glue to put it together, maybe thats why it looks like it does. I have no idea. I think that picture was taken at about a month post op. Anyway thanks for thinking it looks great! I personally think I just got lucky

            Hi Geish,

I was looking at your pictures too. You look GREAT.. You are so straight. Do you feel as good as you look? I would tell you about my curves, but I dont know what the numbers are yet. I have an appt. with Dr. Shelokov in April.

Pam, I really wanted to see your pictures too, but I cant open them. I dont know why. I am not that computer saavy. I have to wait for my daughter to help me. LOL. I did see a picture of your t-shirt though. LOVE IT. I also want to tell you, I really enjoy reading your posts.

Cindy, if you're talking about the surgical photos, I'm almost sure I know the answer.

They're in a PowerPoint presentation, and if you don't have Microsoft Office installed you'll need to download and install the free PowerPoint viewer from Microsoft.

It can be downloaded here. Email me if you have any problems installing it ;-).

              Regards,
              Pam

                OMG Pam,
Thank you so much. I just saw the pictures of your surgery. I am speechless.
I am so impressed. I cannot believe how well you are doing after a surgery like that. How long after the surgery before you could get out of bed? Thank you for sharing that with us. You are an inspiration.

                  Cindy,

Glad you were finally able to open the pics ;-). People are either fascinated by them or *completely* grossed out (both of my kids fall into the latter group). I've yet to show them to anyone who's been ambivalent - LOL.

As far as getting out of bed, I was out of bed the morning after surgery. I sat in a chair for an hour and walked 75'. The evening after surgery I sat for about another hour and walked 300'.

My recovery just seemed to go quickly from the start (I have no idea why).

I only spent ~maybe~ an hour in PACU before they put me in a room, and once I woke up I was bored (AND hungry ... and whining for coffee!). Gained possession of my cell phone and talked to a few people from here, but they all kept rushing me off the phone with "You're supposed to be resting!! Why are you on the phone??!".

Luckily, the hospital had wifi: A friend brought my laptop on Day 2, and order was restored to the universe ;-).

                  Regards,
                  Pam
