My daughter had her first visit with Dr. Bhatia in early April. We both liked him a lot (we thought his PA was a little hokey). He's very pleasant and explains things well.
He did both an adult and a pediatric spine fellowship, and all his training is excellent (Stanford, UCLA, etc).
I am taking my daughter for a second opinion with a pediatric specialist who devotes his/her time fulltime to peds (she's 13 with a 40 degree thoracolumbar curve and a 28 degree compensatory thoracic curve).
We may end up with Dr. Bhatia, but my preference is a surgeon who does kids only - and lots of them each year.
Hope this helps.

He prescribed a TLSO brace that she has to wear 23 hours/day. He also told us that it may not stop the progression and that he would wait until she finishes growing before doing surgery. She's at 40 degrees now, so if the brace doesn't stop the progression, she'll be a surgical candidate sometime next summer - again, probably. He says she probably has a year to 18 months of growth left based on when she started her first period (December of this year). Her risser was 2.5 - 3.
She goes back to see him in July (3 month interval).
Good luck.
