  • DD's brace is working!

We had DD's first follow-up appointment since being in her brace (Boston).

The doctor was happy with the results. Her curve started at 40-42 degrees.

In the brace, her curve is at 21 degrees. They tightened the brace some more & we go back in 4 months. It's possible it will be even better correction in the brace.

    So far, so good.

      Becky,
That's great that your DD's brace is holding her curves. Congrats, you made it over the first hurdle! I wish her lots of luck for all the rest of the hurdles. May her curves stay right where they are, or better yet, may they improve!!!

                scoliomom,
it is a little late answering this question because i am already talking to your daughter.. i just sent her a long email.. and i hope what i wrote will encourage her.. I'm very happy to help her and talk to her because i know how she feels like, ive been there, and luckily my 2nd cousin has the same brace so she kind of helped me throughout the beggining out of those few times that i got to see her. Like i told your daughter, if u have any questions dont hesitate.. just ask!! =]

                  Bracing

My 13 yr old daughter was diagnosed during a sports phyiscal with a 40 degree curve. She was fitted for a Boston brace and has had it for about 2 weeks. Any hints on helping her be compliant with wearing the brace. The doc wants her in it 23 hours a day and we're lucky to get 10-12 from her. I'm tired of nagging her already and we have just begun the journey.
