Is there financial help out there??

Hi, I have a friend w/ a 18yr old daughter who was never treated for scoli.She is now so bad that they want to give her surgery.The problem being their insurance is not that great.She has to pay out of pocket $10,000.She has dropped out of school to be refunded and put that money towards it.They are now marketing the house.Long story short their money situation is not good.As she is 18 there is no chance for shriners.Does anyone know of any assistance they can apply for??Is there any help out there for people w/ insurance who still cant afford the copay??She needs to ha ve half up front and the remainder within 2 weeks after surgery.If anyone knows of anything PLEASE let me know.We live in Arkansas and it seems the only people who can get help have to make such a small amoount of money it would be impossible to survive.Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are you sure that Shriners won't accept her? I though 18 was the cutoff - that the child had to be 18 or younger, in which case you would qualify.

You had told me about Shriners my daughter is 12.I am waiting to hear back personally.I passed this info onto her,and no they have to be 17 or younger.

OK, then I guess the policy is "under 18". Thanks for clarifying.

I mentioned on another post that you might want to give Shriners a call if you don't hear back soon. You can often get an appt. that way.
