Hello everyone!
Starting two years ago in the fall (while I was living in Nova Scotia), I started having INCREDIBLE pain with my back, that felt like it started right in the center of my chest, and spread to my ribs and around to my back. It was so intense that I would completely shut down. It seemed no meds helped, tylenol, advil, robaxacet, nothing! It started happening once a month, then eventually was happening once a week, and would last all night, sometimes up to six hours. It seemed the only thing that helped was Aleve, some painkiller my roomate from the US had that I didnt know about. When I came home at Christmas my mum booked me in with the adult scoliosis specialist, who did my surgery but I had never actually met (I always dealt with the pediatric specialist). Anyways he diagnosed it as arthritis? At 22! He gave me voltaren rapide as pain medication. He said this type of arthritis is common with scoliosis surgery patients, because the joints in your spine are fused, and don't get as much lubrication, or moisture so they get dry and inflamed?
Turns out Aleve is an arthritis pain medication, no wonder it was the only thing that helped.
Since moving back to Alberta (Canada for those who don't know where that is, in the prairies) I haven't had as much a problem. But every once in a while (maybe once a month) I get it, and I have to take my voltaren, which usually makes me sleepy & drowsy... and lose a whole day.
Anyways just curious if there is anyone else out there that has experienced a similar situation. I look forward to hearing from you!
Take care!
