  • I Can't Take it Anymore!!

My pain is unbearable. My sciatic nerve is attacking me, and my lower back pain in constant. I need to see a specialist. NOW!
First... Who do I call or see for insurance? Any suggestions?

Second.. Anyone know of a revision surgery dr. in Western NC?

I am at my wits end here.. help will be so appreciated.

    Hi Cindy...

I'm afraid I can't help you in terms of finding a revision surgeon in N.C., but if you're looking to purchase private medical insurance, I think you may find that any policy you can purchase would have an exclusion clause for your spine. Your best bet to do any research might be to contact an insurance agent in your home town. If there's any way you can get yourself hired by an employer who provides a good health insurance plan, I think that would be a smart thing to do.

    Regards,
    Linda

      Hi Cindy,

I would like to recommend Dr. LLoyd Hey of The Hey Clinic in Raleigh, NC. He does his surgeries at the Duke Health Raleigh Hospital. His practice is right beside the hospital on Wake Forest Road. Before opening his practice in Jan 2005, he spent 10 yrs at the spine clinic at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC where he did over 3,000 surgeries during this time.

He did my surgery in Feb 2003 at the age of 42 and I couldn't be happier with the results.

      Kindest Regards,
      Gail

        Thanks Linda.

I'm pretty sure a new job is out of the question.. I can barely walk as it is.. I consider myself blessed to be employed. Even without any insurance.

          Update! I'm Seeing a Specialist!

I am seeing Dr. Hey in Raleigh Thursday morning! (Thank YOU Gail!)

I had X-Rays taken yesterday to take with me... My rod is broken! It's broken pretty high up.. (just below the shoulder blades) so, I don't know if that is what's causing my low back pain.. but, I will find out soon!

              Thank you so much. *hug*

The broken rod.. according to Dr. Hey, is no big deal. My lowest 2 vertebra are my problem.

                  Hi Sheena!

I don't know how my rod broke.

"Happening Now". I have not had a sciatic attack since August! I do have lower back pain, but nothing out of the usual like before. The only meds I am on is Ibuprofen, and a muscle relaxer that I take only about once a week or so..

I am doing well. I praise God for it, and really believe prayers for me has helped me tremendously!

Thank you so much for asking!
