View Full Version : Support, Brace

There must be some sort of support or brace that would apply some compression on your lumbar and thorasic section to put pressure on my ribs on the side that is shifting. I seem to always have one arm behind my back on the side that is bulging just for some support and it actually relieves some pain and that weird felling of feeling crooked. I know supports and braces are not reccomeneded but when ones back is real bad and don't think it can't hurt to get some relief. Now does any one have a suggestion on a product to help????

Here are a few:

I would recommend that you discuss them with your specialist.

Are There Any Others Besides These?

You'll find several inexpensive braces at your local hospital supply store.

Linda, Do you have experience with the Corflex Disc unloader? What made you reccomend that one? Do you think that would apply some compression against the ribs that are turning outward? The only option I have is surgery which I am not doing and my pain doctor isn't helping, that is why I would be interested in a little relief with this type of support.....

I have no experience with either of the braces, so can't recommend either of them.

In the last year before my own surgery, I was in a lot of pain whenever I stood for any length of time. My surgeon prescribed a lightweight TLSO custom brace. It wasn't inexpensive (none are), but definitely gave me some temporary relief. My surgeon did warn me that wearing the brace would probably cause by abs to atrophy, so I only wore the brace when I really needed it.
