I am a 29 yr old mother of 3, and I have scoliosis. Within this year, I have been experiencing pain and stiffness in my back. I have an appointment with a nerologist. For the past 3 yrs I have been seeing a chiropractor, but do not believe that is helping. My chiropractor actually said that my hips are getting worse. My spine is in the shape of an "S" and one of my vertibrays (spelling?) is twisted almost backwards.

I hate to think of surgery, is there such a thing as braces for adults, and do they work?

from all the research i have done it is to my understanding that braces for adults really does not have any results. It may help your posture and maintain the pain but once your bones are formed there is not much else you can do. I do go for deep tissue massages and yoga helps with the pain.

A scoliosis specialist who treats adults would save you time and money. You could find out what your options are and what could help you be more comfortable.

Other doctors, who are not familiar with adult scoliosis, do not offer appropriate help.

Try physiotherapy and massage therapy.

To the moderator, I am not trying to advertise the services the website I mentioned was trying to offer, it has good background information on scoliosis and alternatives to surgery and other braces.
