  • Adult doctor in Atlanta

Anyone know of any excellent adult scoliosis doctors in Atlanta area? I've been to see Dr. Stephen James. He recommended surgery. I liked him but have no clue if he's good or not.

    Thanks!

Dr. Scott Boden is the Director of the Emory Spine Center. He is listed by Castle Connolly as one of America's top doctors. He specializes in Scoliosis.

Mother of a 17 year old daughter. Her "S" curve was 40 degree thoracic from T3 to T9, and a 70 degree rotatory thorcolumbar from T9 to L4. She was operated on March 9th, 2005 by Dr. Boachie-Adjei at the Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC. She was fused from T11 to L3, using an anterior approach, and the major curve corrected to 20 degrees. She's doing great!

Alden Milan & Daniel Murray, Alfred Rhyne) and Total Spine Specialists (Drs. Paul Tsahakis, Mark Hartman & Robert Lins). Does anyone know anything about any of these docs? I have info for Dr. Hey in Raleigh, NC And Dr. Boden in Atlanta, GA. I had read some positive posts a while back about a doc in Clearwater, FL but can't remember his name. Anyone know who this is? Thanks! Janet

        Hi Janet,

I believe the specialist in Clearwater, FL is Dr. Anthony Moreno. http://www.spine-health.com/doctor/AnthonyMoreno/ I've heard very good things about him, specifically adult revision surgery, etc.

Anyone with exp with an Atlanta Doctor

I'm 63 and had a stable situation until last year and now need a good referral. The doctors my insurance had me see, just looked and asked me what i want to do. I would like to see a doctor who could give me some options.

Has anyone used the Emory Spine Clinic.

            Patricia

I think Dr. James is great. I had scoliosis surgery 31 years ago and have developed problems. I went to a doctor in Rome and he didn't know how to handle my case. He referred me on to another doctor to handle my thorasic problem and to get that pain taken care of before he treats my lumbar problem. I avoid doctors from Emory because we have had so many problems with them in the past. One from there misdiagnosed my daughter's scoliosis treatment.

                  Dr.HORTON

                  Hello,

I have surgery scheduled December 7th, and pre-op on Monday of this week. I know Dr. Horton is amazing and is so very kind. I have been on EVERY pain killer known to man and I'm only 25 years old. I cheered in high school as well as in college. I was a VERY active child and my doctor did nothing for me (as far as bracing) when I was young. Now, I am facing surgery. How long is the length of your hospital stay expected? I was told around two weeks, that seems a bit long to me. I am having 8 levels fused though. I'm beginning to get nervous because my father is dying and my mother may not be there while I am having surgery. It's a rather scary thing to go through a lone! ...
