Almost a year!!! WOW!!! You've done great. This surgery is hard to cope with, and for a young person. . .you've dealt with it very well. I'm not so sure I would have coped as well at your age. Are you doing something special to mark the 1 year anniv??Fused T-3 to L-3, Aug 25

Kara,
After almost one year, is your back still numb where the incision is? Mine is and I was wondering if that is normal and if it will go away. Do you feel the rods?Laura

Congratulations, Kara, on reaching that milestone! As far as numbness is concerned, I think it can vary a whole lot. I had lymph nodes removed from my right armpit when I was 20, due to melanoma, (blocking a path it could possibly travel), and I still don't have all the feeling back there-- although in just the last couple of years it's improved a little more for some reason. I am now 60. My back is still numb in some areas from my scoli surgery, but you don't really touch your back that often so I don't think of it. It's in the mid-scapular area that seems numb. Best wishes as you look forward to a long and pretty straight life!71 and plugging along... but having some problems
