  • Out of Intensive Care

I am Chris's husband posting for her. Chris was operated on Monday, 10-25. She was moved from intensive care to a regular room today, Wednesday, 10-27. She has done very well. I have been amazed so far. She had physical therapy today for the first time and got out of bed and walked to the sink with a walker and brushed her teeth. Her pain level, of course, remains high. I am very optimistic that we are moving towards a better life. Al this ha happened after a 9 and one-half hour surgery.

Thanks Chris's hubby! That news sounds extremely good. Pain levels to be expected at this stage, but will improve gradually as time goes by. Please tell Chris we are thinking of her (and some of us know what she's going through!) This stage is difficult but is relatively short in the scheme of things, so keep her looking at that long term goal.

I hope you're both getting some sleep.
    Surgery March 3, 2009 at almost 58, now 63.

You should be very optimistic. Things will be a little tough going for the first few weeks, but in the end , it will all work out fine.

Chris will be one of the scolis here with the most levels fused. If she is brushing her teeth already, that’s pretty darn good....

I hope she can get some sleep. That’s very hard to do when you are in pain.

Thanks for posting and so happy to hear Chris is getting up and about after surgery. That's a great sign she can get over to the sink and is brushing already. She's doing great after a 9+ hour surgery.
