I appaud the efforts that are being made for scoliosis and the revision process. Does anyone know of any Canadian doctors or clinics doing revision, preferably in Western Canada? And what questions and/or information I should have?

Hi there! I just noticed your post and wanted to let you know about my spinal surgeon. His name is Dr. Richard Dewar and he works at the Calgary Foothills Hospital. I recently had Posterior Spinal Sugery with Cotrel-Dubousset Instrumentation which he performed. The number for his office is 403-220-8737. I'm not sure if Dr. Dewar performs your specific type of surgery but it couldn't hurt to call and ask. I am sure, Patrice, the receptionist at his office will be as kind and as informative to you as she has been to me.

Hi Shamotta aka Therese,
I'm curious to know how recently you had your surgery and if you're aware of whether or not Dr. Dewar is still practicing in Calgary? My Son was very recently diagnosed with Congenital Scoliosis and I'd like to talk to as many Specialists (even though they are few) as I can in the city. We have been referred to Dr. James Harder at the AHC, but as of yet I have not talked to him. Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Warmest Regards,
Erica

Hi Erica,
Sorry to stick my nose in here, but this particular forum is for Adult patients, so I am assuming that these people are talking about Dr's that deal with adult scoliosis. I think that you would be much better off, taking your son to a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon. They have much more experience dealing with little ones, and the infantile type of scoliosis. Just my opinion!!

Hi Llewyn...
At the SRS meeting a few weeks ago, I ran into Dr. Ganesh Swamy. He did a spinal deformity fellowship at UCSF and is now at the University of Calgary. I would assume that he's a good revision surgeon, having done a lot of that while he was there.
