I have been surprised that many of the members have not received proper protection during Xray exposure

In my former work, we even provided a small lead shield for tiny premature infants when doing chest or abdominal xrays.

A little disturbing to hear the stories

I whole heartedly agree!

Having been in the MRT program now as an adult, I shudder at the amount of radiation I was exposed to by xrays and CTs as a child (don't misunderstand, I'm grateful to be alive and for the most part comfortable).

We have come so far in learning how to reduce/eliminate a lot of extra unnecessary radiation, but yet, just due to a lack of attention or being lazy, there is still alot of kids/adults being exposed to more then necessary amounts (lack of lead, not adjusting the setting, unecessary repeats etc)

Fortunately I haven't had much imaging done since I was a kid, but when I did go in this past July, she forgot to use lead (some shots I realize she couldn't, but still the others.....grr!)
